I called NVC and no luck yet. I think I spoke to operator who has being there for some time. He asked me to call on first or second week of the month when they are schedule interviews. I just said thank you. :D

That is NVC's standard script. They will always say that even when they are scheduling Interviews.

It is month-end and it will be either tomorrow, friday or Monday (I doubt Monday). They have always started up the last two days of every month for the last 15 months like clock work.

I filed married filing separate. Had no problem and was way easier than I was expecting!

You can use HR and block online service. It will ask for your spouses SSN but leave it blank. - then there is a space to check why they don't have one. You enter the reason (no SSN). Then at the end of the process it will populate NRA in that space (non resident alien). You can not e-file with this, however you can print it out and send it in.

Married filing jointly is just way more complex at this point considering your spouse will be here soon.

You can always amend the tax return for filing jointly after your spouse has an SSN if it benefits your situation :)

Thank you gwenstar for telling how you did. I did the same with Turbo tax. I don't think there's any online filing for no SSN or ITIN. Which is fine.

When I filed my extension last year within a few weeks I got the great letter from them addressed to me and my husband great evidence.

All of you are at the end of the road your spouses will be here before October (when extensions are due) so why not file extension then no amending.

I have 3 years to amen and I am not looking forward to it.

Happens all the time. Nothing you can do. Your embassy has been crazy busy and they may have overbooked that day.

Thank you.. at least i know its pretty normal... im so confused and quite disapponted i thought its only me who experienced that... what can i do? I want to request to reschedule it earlier but when i called the usem there's no available date..oh by the way, the letter is from usem and says that they are all rescheduling all those who have interview on april 29 because visa services unavailable on that date..

Thank you gwenstar for all your response! :)

I think this is first time I am doing it manually (mailing it) so lil confused and again that spouse having no SSN and handling those issues....

Thank you!

3 years of amends does not sound like fun :( I didn't do the extension just because I am too wound up about all this visa paperwork n stuff I just wanted to get mine out of the way. Haha. But yeah, it totally makes sense to do an extension and avoid the headache of an amend.

I am sorry to hear of your delay.

May I ask, why did they ask you for the transcripts when it clearly says on the offical instructions that you can use returns and W2's? We used returns and W2's so I am worried we will have the same problem. Is it because in 2012 your spouse did not earn enough to sponsor?

Thanks

Yes in 2012 spouse didnt earn enough, he just started his job this year, thats why I got with me IRS transcripts for 2012, W2 and 1040 for 2013 which shows 34000$ plus pay stubs and letter from work but CO kept asking 2013 IRS transcripts.. but I was not the first person whom CO let go to get transcripts, front of me there were 3 people , they also were required to bring IRS scripts, I think every consulate has different requirements so in my consulate it doesnt matter how much it shows on W2 or 1040 they do not trust it, they always want IRS transcripts. And also they take as a current income the last tax year, so even it was very high in 2013 it doesnt matter the important is the last filed tax year 2012

awww... I was really hoping we would all hear this week! my husband and i really had our hopes up - we've named this whole process "backlog" - currently we are waiting for an email from "backlog" for his interview date - now lets see if dwheels76's prediction serves your NVC operator....

That is NVC's standard script. They will always say that even when they are scheduling Interviews.

It is month-end and it will be either tomorrow, friday or Monday (I doubt Monday). They have always started up the last two days of every month for the last 15 months like clock work.

I think I read some where in the past they schedule the interviews on second week of the month (Maybe dwheels76's post). That is what I thought the operator has been working there for sometime now. I knew it was not right.

I think it gonna happen Wednesday or Thursday!!!

This tax returns stuff is getting confusing. I thought I run it by this forum and get some input

on the AOS I mailed all past 3 years (2010,2011,2012) tax transcripts ....my income avgs 80k/yr but I also have both my parents as dependent. I dont see an issue there....I was not working first 1/2 of last year...Travelling and other things....I filled taxes for 2013 recently ...gross income for last year came out around 50K...still have both my parents as dependent...first question is that still above poverty line?

my income from recent job is over 90 K...I have paystubs and W2 to prove that though

Since I just filed for 2013 returns, how soon can i get a tax transcript for 2013?

Also W2 for my recent job also shows single.....should i send the recent paystubs right before my spouse interview plus job letter and copy of tax returns, will that be sufficient?

I filed 2013 tax returns as married, but got married in nov 2012. My 2012 tax is not filed as married, it is filed as Head of house hold(cause parents showed as dependent). Can that be an issue?

any advise will be greatly appreciated

What you claim on W2 is of no matter. I file single and 4. It's your filing status at tax time is what has to be true.

Yes you made plenty for your household of 4. Head of household or married is fine you have dependents head of household is okay.

Remember people your spouse is not your dependent so if its just the two of you YOU CAN NOT file Head of Household. He has dependents his parents so he qualifies.

Here's the new 2014 guidelines for those who want to know.

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

I think I read some where in the past they schedule the interviews on second week of the month (Maybe dwheels76's post). That is what I thought the operator has been working there for sometime now. I knew it was not right.

I think it gonna happen Wednesday or Thursday!!!

Casper they hate at NVC and USCIS we know more tan they do. Most times we tell them their job. They wish we all were ignorant and just waited by the mailbox for their letters. No way we do that.

Trust me today or tomorrow good news is coming for many. :clock::luv:

So, Dwheels

I know it's very hard for you to predict but thought I'd ask seeing as you seem very clued up on these things.

My case was completed on 24th March, am I right in expecting an interview date around the 12th - 21st May? That's what I am hoping for!

I can't wait to get it all out of the way. I have quite a few extra things I need to bring to the interview just in case. Basically my wife was given incorrect advice by her employee CPA that she should file single on her tax return for 2013 as I do not have a SSN. We realised after we sent in our Affadavit of support that this was wrong and she should have filed married filing seperately. She was very angry with her CPA advisor.

Anyway, after much research it seems as though no-one has ever been denied because of this although CO's have asked for a written explanation from the US citizen to explain why they filed as single when married. Even better news, apparently they don't care in London at all.

In any case my wife has filed a 1040x, which is an amendment, and she has changed it to married filing serpately. I will be bringing this to the interview so there is nothing to worry about!

Another thing is the I-864 form with N/A ticked in the box that was left blank. They are so pedantic!

Anyway, we are all ready and waiting for the day!

Thanks, I appreciate your help!

Oh ok. So it means NVC can give the interview date in 2 days, 1 week or 1 month ?

The date you get the interview is relative. It could be May 1st. or may 31st. If you are in the queue for May the dates can be whenever.

And no you wouldn't be denied if a CO was really picky they would just give a 221G and make you amen taxes, file taxes (have seen that many times). Its usually those with red flags in the money area.
