Hi friends please read and reply to my topic I will appreciate any inputs

I had my first interview on March 4, I got 221, I was asked to bring IRS transcripts for 2012, second additional interview was scheduled for March 20, I got transcripts for 2012 (which shows amount under powerty line) thats why I got with me his W2 and 1040 for 2013, payroll cheque for 2014, letter from his current job, I couldnt get transcripts for 2013 cos on that time he just had filed his 2013 tax so transcripts was not available to print, now I am waiting my third additional interview. My question is -

CO has not mentioned to update AOS but just to be sure I wanna ask it from you guys.

On filed AOS my hubby showed as his last tax year 2012 so now when he already has his return for 2013 should we update AOS or no?

May it be a reason for CO to postpone my visa issuing

Thank you in advance

I am sorry to hear of your delay.

May I ask, why did they ask you for the transcripts when it clearly says on the offical instructions that you can use returns and W2's? We used returns and W2's so I am worried we will have the same problem. Is it because in 2012 your spouse did not earn enough to sponsor?

Thanks

Yes you have too update the I-864. Tell husband to keep checking for tax transcript since that seems to be what they want. okay 2012 was below thats cool. Cuz 2013 is above right? And his current salary shows he makes above right? If so you are good to go.

That's why you want to update the I-864 so they can get that 2012 out their minds. ;)

Almost done :goofy:

I can answer this. Its all about the embassy and the CO. You see tax transcripts although doesn't say required (it really should be) because it shows proof you filed taxes. You would be surprised how many people fill in whatever they want make fake W2 (easy to do) print all the 1040 forms (of course never file) and submit). Tax transcripts you can't do that.

And when you are below poverty guideline it makes you suspect to ummmm "cheat". Not saying anyone is I am telling it like a CO thinks (I know these people trust me).

I know Lagos almost requires tax transcripts because of this issue (and this is the US citizen doing this wrong).

Ok so Dwheels, you think it's ok to use returns and W2's? It says you can on the Gov website. I know they prefer transcripts becuase they are shorter but if stage gov website says you can use returns and W2s surely they cannot delay your case and ask for transcripts? My wife has earned $60,000 for last three years if that makes a difference?

Cheers mate!

Honestly the people they require and delay are usually people who are below the poverty guidelines. A steady income usually doesn't fall under that scrutiny.

Thanks! I was speaking to someone earlier on another forum who follows the London consulate and they said that in 15 years of being on the forum they have never heard of a London CO asking for the transcripts! So that's a relief!

Happens all the time. Nothing you can do. Your embassy has been crazy busy and they may have overbooked that day.

How did you filled MFS without SSN of spouse? As it doesnot except any characters...

Hi Dwheels76 or anyone who filled 2013 taxes as MFS

Need help for filling 2013 Tax Return:

I think we have to file Married File Separately as we don't have spouse SSN information. So in this case we cannot use any website to file taxes? Do we have to go any accountant to file?

Please help if any one has been to this situation where you dont have SSN of spouse and you got married in 2013 and have to file your 2013 taxes.

Thank you for all your help :)

I filed married filing separate. Had no problem and was way easier than I was expecting!

You can use HR and block online service. It will ask for your spouses SSN but leave it blank. - then there is a space to check why they don't have one. You enter the reason (no SSN). Then at the end of the process it will populate NRA in that space (non resident alien). You can not e-file with this, however you can print it out and send it in.

Married filing jointly is just way more complex at this point considering your spouse will be here soon.

You can always amend the tax return for filing jointly after your spouse has an SSN if it benefits your situation :)
