Heart stopping moment filing taxes

OMG!!! my SS Card was issued on 21st February.... Great.. Me and the husband can file his taxes now 'Married Joint".

We did this online last night, then shortly received an alert saying IRS had REJECTED it because MY SS# and last name do not match with the details on their system. Heart stopping moment ohmy.png

I confirmed that actually the details previously submitted were correct with regards to my SS# and last name and re-submitted it. We luckily received an alert confirming that IRS HAVE now accepted our filed taxes.

Obviously my SS# is brand spanking new, as is my EAD etc... have any of you experienced this before? I assume maybe my details were just slow to be recognized as its all so new? I only got my SS card a few days ago.

Im relieved... just confused as to why it was initially rejected but then accepted even though I never changed any of my details?

You typically need to wait about 2 weeks after any SSN changes for the systems to sync up, the first time you tried the systems must not have synced yet.

Thank you Jason, I do recall my immigration attorney saying to wait a few days before adding myself to my husbands bank account as it may take a few days for my SS# to be recognized.
