Spike Lee's racist, vulgar rant...

Yes he would. Spike was race baiting again and should be called out on it as he was.

I can't agree with you. There are a few New Yorkers in my building, mostly hispanic, and they have told me that this is what they've gone through in their neighborhoods.

I don't think he should have use vulgarity. Because now no one hears his message, it's just racism. Even in his rant he said he had no issue with white people moving in, he just wanted them to respect the history of the neighborhood.

He didn't need to bring up white or black in the first place but he always goes for the race baiting. The problem was politics. If Spike had siad this online he would have been trolling.

I think the main problem is that these people who believe the 'blacks are equally racist' bullshit is that the firmly believe that the playing filed is now equal. I am not sure why they think that but they clearly do and it could be wishful thinking coupled with the fact that not all people of any community are the same. Obviously some people blame external circumstances for their woes when in fact a lot of their problems stem from their own failures, that's true regardless of ethnic/cultural considerations. However, the fact that some people blame external circumstances for their own shortcomings does not take away that others have been genuinely discriminated against simply for who they are perceived to be based on skin colour and while that may be true both ways, the fact is that the white skinned, male community still holds a proportionate number of political and financial aces up their sleeves. It's that that fact that gets brushed aside with those who claim think there is too much store placed on racism against the non white skinned male community.

This rant has nothing to do with the thread at all.

Spike Lee's message was hateful and vulgar. A good way to test the credibility of a message is to count the number of people who see the need to explain what was meant. If Spike Lee feels like he was misunderstood, then let him man-up and clarify it. I don't see him racing back to the microphone and apologizing. Or are blacks immune from offending non-blacks? If you're non-black and didn't like the message, does it mean you don't understand black culture and need it explained to you ad-nauseam? it's 2014. Pretty much everyone is familiar with black history and culture and a lot more people are getting sick of listening to these kind or rascist rants and being accused of not understanding.

If Black people moved in my neighborhood and I basically said I expect them to act white?

Perfectly relevant, you support the idea that Spike Lee was being racist. That's only possible if you think along the lines I outlined. Deny it if you want, that's fine.

Actually he explained himself quite clearly to Anderson Cooper, but something tells me you missed that:

I didn't miss his message. It's the same old song the keeps emerging from the black community. Blame whites and non-blacks for all life's difficulties and misfortunes and make them responsible for fixing it.

That's simply untrue. The very fact that you can cover every black person with the term 'the black community' and say that every single one of them blames whites for their difficulties and misfortunes and are asking for the white community to fix it form them is the epitome of prejudice. Well done.

Pretending that Spike Lee's rant is racist is what's ignorant. However, it's true that it was couched in vulgar language and that was probably done deliberately to upset people just like you. ;)

I don't need to restate what I wrote, because you and everyone else can go back and read it. There are many blacks today who emerge from poor and crime-infested neighborhoods and stand strong and confident on their own. Instead of embracing their voices and opinions, and supporting them as role models, they are too often shunned by some of the race baiting leaders of the black community and rejected from participating in NAACP events. It's time for basic bootstrap philosophy that focuses on hard work. There are plenty of people of all colors who will reach to help those who are willing to help themselves.
