hi everyone!

just want to ask if all the photocopies needed by the embassy such as NSO Birth Certificate needs to be authenticated and other files notarized?

You need originals from NSO (and NBI) not copies.

Read the embassy instructions letter, it lists all the requirements.

You won't need copies of those at USEM and if needed, not required to be notarized or certified.

yes I have the originals ofcourse! was just asking if I made copies, does it have to be authenticated/notarized

Like said USEM does not want copies, now if you want to make copies for your personal records that is a good idea, and notarizing is needed for that... just a copy machine ;)

For the NSO birth certificate, might be a good idea to bring 2 extra original copies of this with you to US. Just a photocopy would be of no use. You will need it once in a while in US like applying for the marriage license.

Just a suggestion, if you are thinking of keeping the other files for your personal record, why not scan them & save the electronic files? I have mine saved on a hard drive. :)

By the way, they won't keep the NSO birth certificate here when they ask for it unlike in Philippines, they just photocopy it and give the copy back to you. :)
