N-400 April 2014 Filers

I had my interview this morning in Chicago. Scheduled for 8:30. I arrived around 8:15 and got called in at 9:05. Interview lasted about 18 minutes. It looked like at any given time 25-30 people were waiting for interview. Some had their support team with them.

During the interview they just go through your file and ask for any additions since N-400 was filed. I presented a piece of paper with a new traffic ticket and additional travel noted on it. The IO added it to my file.

The 6 questions were:

1. When was the Declaration of Independence adopted

2. Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived.

3. Name one of the longest rivers

4. Name the speaker of the house

5. What are the first 10 amendments called

6. For how long do we elect the president

I can't remember the reading sentence, but it was only 3 words. I had to write 'Lincoln was president during the Civil War.

I asked the IO if I can schedule my Oath during a specific week as I have family visiting. She added the request but could not give me much hope as the dates are computer generated - usually 4-6 weeks after final approval post interview.

It seems everybody's time line is a bit different. Another person who filed just a couple days before me got a notice within 4 weeks.

My case probably took a bit longer as I have been here for a while and they had to dig up my old file.

I wouldn't worry too much, with summer vacations and a high application load from spring, I am sure it can take a little longer currently. You'll likely get an update within a week or so.

Had my interview today at 11:30am in Tampa Field Office. Im almost panicking because we arrived at the office 5mins before my scheduled time because there is a big accident in I-75...but i am on time and gladly passed the Interview with big smile. Though the officer is kind of serious and never even congratulate me after i answered the civic question and writing a sentence, but its okay maybe she is overwhelmed today lol!...all she said to me is "I recommend you for an approval, and in 2-weeks you will receive a Oathtaking letter the date and schedule"...then she lead me outside to the exit door........anyway here are my 6 questions:

1.) what is an amendment?

2.) what is the supreme law of the land?

3.) who vetoes bill?

4.) who signs bill to become law?

5.) who fought by america in world war II?

6.) what is the capital of your state?

after i answered correctly the 6-questions, she stop and let me write a sentence " the white house is in washington d.c"........very quick smooth interview .....now waiting for my Oath!...Goodluck to everyone who will have interview soon and thank you visajourney for this loooooong journey! :-)

Hi Atlanta filers who have not received interview letters yet maybe because yours is based on

spouse 3 years? Mine was on 5 years and I did not request any name change.

Hope you get it soon.

Mine was 5 years based....I sent my application april 14. finger printed may 13 and now, I am in line for an interview ever since.

Sorry for not sharing my interview experience with you guys right away.... the day after my interview appointment yesterday 8/27 we found out were expecting!!! I'm PREGNANT!!! :-)
its been an awsome week !

Here is my Chicago interview experience

Appt was at 8:30 we were in the builiding by 8am didnt get called up until 8:55

The IO Officer was super friendly i was very foruntate to get a nice IO some of the other ones there were in bad moods and super rude.
He took my green card passport and social secuirty card made copies of those started the test I dont remember all the questions here are the ones i do remember

* Current polictical party of the US President?
* What are the two political parties in the US ?
* Name 3 of the 13 orginal colonies?
* Ocean on the West Coast?
* One state that borders Mexico?

Then he had me read Who Votes Congress and write the answer.

He told me I passed the Civis and English test

went over the application , had me sign my name on my passport style pictures with a sharpie.

signed all the documents and that's it!
Now just waiting for my ceremony date.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT HAD YOUR APPOINTMENTS YET!!!!!!

Hello Second stage!...go ahead to post an update on tampa thread, it will help others as well. The officer just told me that i will receive a letter of my Oathtaking in mail within 2-weeks where location and date gonna be held. I asked her if its gonna be the same location, she just told me "i believe so" unless too many people will have an oathtaking, and if they cannot accomodate the place (which is kinda small), then i am sure it will be located to a bigger venue.....I dont know how often they do the Oath, dont have any Idea........but the lady officer is asking a Tricky question yesterday. because I am applying N-400 under marriage...she asked me if I have plans of leaving my husband....is it kind of weird question,right?......but anyway, goodluck to you on your upcoming interview....

Congrats to all I have missed congratulating.

For an update we are still waiting on the que message from Chicago. Missed the July Oath taking, so the next scheduled Oath taking in our area is October.

I sent in PP-size photos with my application and I noted that in my interview letter it was suggested that I take 2 passport size pictures. Did anyone submit 2 yet had to take another set to the interview?

2. I'm filing based on 5 years rule and traveled only once for two weeks out of the country in the application it was not required that I submit tax documents, did you have to take tax documents? I file every year so that is no problem.

3.Another question regarding the test; there are some questions that have multiple answers like what does the judiciary branch do, why did the colonist fight the British, and what does the constitution do? Are we to give every answer or are they looking for only one?
