Obama embracing lame-duck status, preparing for post-Presidential career helping young black men

  1. 1. Obama is "plotting a return to the issues that have been central to his own life and will continue to shape generations of young black men after he leaves the White House".

    • His focus on "young black men" proves that he is a racist who hates white people. He is a divider, not a uniter.
    • His focus on "young black men" is just him doing what he knows best. It's not racist, it's him applying himself to a cause where he can have the most impact.

I know many people who work in Agriculture and other sectors who make minimum of there about's.

For whatever reason most Western Countries have set up a dependent non working lower class, obviously illegals are not that keen to pick Strawberries either and very few work in Agriculture.

There are historical precedents, they did not end well.

Really? Can you show me the data behind this "dependent non working lower class" you speak of. I just don't believe it.

And most of the migrant workers, the ones who enter the country illegally, are getting paid a few dollars for an entire day of work. They aren't getting minimum wage, its all cash under the table.

I guess it depends on the area, but the skilled seasonal agricultural workers in this area make three to four times what the Federal minimum wages is.

Ok to be specific I am referring to the Mexicans coming across the border into California and working the fields there. Americans don't want those jobs otherwise they would be working in them and the owners don't want Americans in those jobs because they would by law have to at least pay them minimum wage.

Depends upon the industry. They do fairly well picking grapes and apples.

I am talking about California. The supply of labor for the Ag industry has decreased as California has secured its border with Mexico. There is currently a shortage of workers for some crops. I live in an Ag community.

Ok but would you agree that they are probably paid less than an American citizen in that same job? I guess that is really my point.

If you are talking about construction and general laborer jobs, I would agree from my experience. Although even there, the day workers have been organized to discourage off-street hiring and to make sure a fair wage is agreed to ahead of time, usually in the $20 to $25 range.

Nobody actually wants to work for a living it seems. I have many a conversation with other business people in the area, about how hard it is to find somebody that will show up every day for work, and be a conscientious employee, at any wage. These are some old families that originally settled this area talking, and they would rather not hire immigrants -- period. But, sometimes they have to hire that person that keeps asking for a job, and these days, not too many of those folks speak English as well as you and I.

Supply and demand Deport and you can pay american workers what they are worth. Around me a roofer is making $20/hr. I traveled in the south and almost everyone is hispanic building houses in tracks. You think they are all legal? It's racist to think all hispanics are good for is working in the fields ..Deport them and pay americans more. Is your president going to do this ... I guess not. Undocumented democrats ....... the worst nightmare for generations of black kids . .

Employers are benefiting because they don't have to pay healthcare or liability insurance. I see it as a system that, while it is exploitative to the worker, supports itself. The undocumented workers are making more money than they would in Mexico and the people who hire them are making more profit and have less "paperwork" to deal with.

It's no different than the white collar world I work in, just on a different level. We outsource and hire Indians because it's cheaper than hiring a full time American. Or we support their H1B Visa to come over here on a contract and don't have to pay them insurance or other benefits, can fire them in a drop of a hat with no legal liability.

Obama has deported more undocumented people than any president before him, including all your boys. So I guess that shoots down that theory of yours.

H1-B's are regular salaried employees and are required by law to be paid at prevailing wage.

Ok on the "prevailing wage" lol.

Here is data to back up my claim.

http://www.cis.org/articles/2007/back407.html

Trust me they get paid less and are expendable. Now I don't know about all industries, I work in IT which I am sure is the main entry point for a lot of those folks.

"Technology sector employers, who represent the largest share of H-1B visa users, tell the public that the H-1B program is vital to their ability to find the highly skilled workers they need. Yet Department of Labor data tell a different story. Previous studies have found that the H-1B program is primarily used to import low-wage workers.1This report examines the most recently available wage data on the H-1B program and finds that the trend of low prevailing wage claims and low wages continues."

That is just plain mean The US could not function without its underclass. The politicians know it, industry knows it, and in their hearts, the rest of America knows it as well.

Reality and the law don't always match. This is a nation founded by criminals, after all.
