I am a Filipino 25 years old working in maldives. I am planning to get a short course program in one of the university of Alaska. Probably in Fairbanks. Please anyone help me, and tell me how to start with this idea. How will I choose a university that is available and how is the visa processing.how long does it takes. And how much will be the budget. Thank you in advance.

You contact the Uni you are interested in and speak to their International Admissions office.

OK, what about the real reason? Alaska is quite a contrast (from the weather perspective) to the Maldives....so there must be another reason for your interest in studying there....perhaps a BF or GF who lives there? (and believe me, a CO will ask these questions, and more, during your interview)

Given that your home country's average temperature is in the 80's, combined with high humidity (and the climate in the Maldives is very similar), it seems a bit odd to have a desire to spend a great deal time (in school) in a state in which the average temperature is around -15!....this question will come up.....and I've never heard anyone refer to Alaska as a 'nice' place.....
