New receipt number after rejection?

Hi all -

We filed at the start of Feb however were rejected on 18 Feb (letter received stating USC had filed with incorrect amount on check - doh!).

We have since re-filed with this correctly amended.

Does anyone know if this new filing will generate a completely new receipt number?

I'm checking the original receipt number via case status online and it is not updated beyond the rejection, which leads me to presume there will be a new receipt number following in the post shortly.

I surprised her with a proposal in Los Angeles, and this is how it went down!

Thank you!

Its worth noting that the rejection did state that the process would be expedited if we included the rejection form with the new application. I wonder if that means NOA1 or NOA2 also? We can but hope...

In the interests of sharing, here's a copy of the letter that USCIS have recommended attaching to the new application:

It just means that your case will not need to go through all the steps at the intake facility that each new petition does, since yours already went through those. It won't really speed up your case all that much, but should get it sent to the appropriate service center for processing quicker.

Thanks folks!

Just out of curiosity, is the NOA1 issued by the SC or from the Texas lockbox? Seems people regularly report a 2-day turnaround for email NOA1's, with the letter following within a week.

Our new petition was received (signed for) 23 Feb and we've received neither the email or a letter as yet. The check has not yet been cashed.
