I'm on F visa and hubby is a citizen. We got married and submitted AOS work. Currently waiting for the interview. Because I couldn't change my name on SS nor my passport, I submitted all papers under my current last name. I am wondering when and how I can change my name and what are the options to consider. I don't want to pay the fee but I'd prefer sooner than later. Should I wait until getting permanent GC? Or even citizenship? Thanks!

You should have submitted your AOS app in your new name. USCIS accepts your marriage cert as proof of valid name change. Sorry.

You can either pay to get a replacement card or do it at ROC or naturalization.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
