some pople's timelines indicate that their green card was approved without even having to go through an interview. i think they filed for AOS and then their case was transfered to CSC (or something like that) and then they receive the welcome letter. I have seen it on several people's signatures and was wondering what the deal on that is.

i filed I-130, I-485 and was wondering what my chances are for having the green card so easy wihtout having to go through the interview.

any input is appreciated, especially from people who had had this happen to them or know about it.

thanks

Approval without AOS interview seems to only happen in some K-1 cases. My guess is that they bypass the AOS interview since there was already an interview to get the K-1 visa. If you are filing under a different case (H-1, F-1), you'll need to have an AOS interview.

I think that the cases transferred to CSC tend to come from local offices that have a backlog of cases. Being transferred doesn't necessarily guarantee you a quick and easy approval, though. We've been waiting several months, and our case hasn't even been touched in two months. There's no telling!

Conditions Removed! Ten-year green card received 6/24/2009. No more USCIS for a very long time.

Yes, the AOS' approved without an interview are ones that have been transferred to the California Case Processing Center, almost always from offices that have a backlog. It also appears to be applications that are fairly straight forward and complete. Some people have received RFE's and when they submitted the requested information, their file has then been transferred to California and approved without an interview. I don't know if it is only K-1s who are receiving this, however the majority do seem to be. Most of the cases transferred seem to be adjudicated fairly quickly - ie. within a few weeks after the transfer - but not all. We were transferred to California but our application wasn't approved until 8 months later, with no RFEs requested. I don't know if we can expect to receive an interview when we adjust status or not; I guess we will find out in about a year or so when the first transferred cases approved without an interview begin their adjustment processes. btw - there doesn't seem to be anything you as an applicant can do to influence this action- it is solely up to the discretion of the USCIS. I am sure there is some sort of internal policy or procedure addressing it - all I know is that when I queried my transfer I was told it was because my local office was backlogged and this was to address the backlog.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Hi Hanster:

Our experience, filed July 2006 EAD,AP,AOS.... EAD and AP approved within 60days. Mid August got letter that AOS was sent to CSC for "speed processing". We had one RFE in early Nov (for vaccinations), sent back and case was worked again on 12/5/06. Today recieved e-mail that "card was in production" which means approval. We were called on no interview.

Best of luck.

Personally, I'd rather skip the whole interview process for the AOS. I hate being judged by strangers. But, I'm not worried about it either, should the time come.

Here's hoping for some speedy GC approvals!!

The criteria for CSC transfers seems to be an entire mystery ... but from my humble observations K-1 applicants have a better chance of getting their case transferred to Cali. I was hoping for the transfer but they left me out. I am an H-1 case guy so according to my own theory my chances are slim.

Good Luck to all

For Claudeth we just followed the guide and sent the application to the Chicago lockbox. About 3 months later we received an email stating that the application had been transferred to CSC. Two months after that we received a couple of emails and a letter stating her petition had been approved and a week after that the GC arrived in the mail. I have no idea why CSC was approving the conditional cards without an interview but greatly appreciate that they did.
