I would check with your employer. I know that my employer enrolled my wife (K1) and the 4 kids (K2) without SSN's . All what i needed was our marriage certificate and a copy of her passport bio page and I-94 card.

I guess it depends on who the Insurance company is and what there policy is.

But i would check with your HR Department.

send AOS papers a week ago , i want to add my wife in my health insurance i believe i can not add her with out a SSN

should i wait for ssn or should i go to the office and get her one. Also how about the fees

am sure i wont get reimbursement , WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If there is time left on the I-94, like 2 weeks, you can still get your wife a SSN based on her K-1 visa. If the I-94 is expired or within 2 weeks of expiring, you must now wait for the EAD or GC before she can get a SSN. Ask your employer what they can do I the meantime.

Good luck,

Dave

Lately the EAD has been taking 60-90 days and the GC anywhere from 60-180 days--the average is showing 121 days. Have a look at "Immigration timelines" and look at the AOS stats on the banner at the top of the VJ website.
