Police Report

Our papers were mailed from the embassy in Moscow on the 18th of December but she has not yet received them due to all the holiday mail. Kind of pisses me off.

But I know we don't really have to have them to get things started.

I am looking for information concerning her obtaining the police reports for her and her 19 year old son. What are the procedures and how does she get this police report.

She also has a 6 year old son. Does she need to get a police report for him? I thought I read somewhere that it was required only for persons over 16 years old. But I can't find that information again.

She'll need to go to the Police station and request the reports. They could take anywhere from 2-4 weeks, maybe less, so start now. I am pretty sure that a 6 year old son does not need it, but the 19 y.o and your fiancee will.

If you had the packet you would know that anyone who was over the age of 16 and resided in any place longer than 6 months needs a police certificate from that region.

Also having the packet is very helpful when it comes to asking for the police report because it is in Russian tells the authorities exactly what you need. Others on hear have had troubles by getting the wrong police reports.

Don't wait for the packet - follow what is required on the Moscow Embassy's web site.

My wife who lived in Peter did not get her pack till the day before the interview.
