Causing pain to others is family friendly only when in the context of war.

Oh, you are right. Violence is family-friendly, but not a woman's legs. Silly me.

Man, I had to do so much fighting to get Verizon to disconnect the Fios that was here and get back to copper loop. It was an epic battle. Harpa wins.

If anyone wants to get copper loop back, which is required by law, I was told you can tell them you are a criminal on house arrest to get them to listen up.

There's a massive internal program in place at Verizon to get everyone off of copper and get them to Fios, or ditch the customer entirely. I have some friends there, and this is their full time job. I think Verizon's reason is that Fios is regulated differently than the traditional copper lines.

On another note, the U.S. and Canada are the only two countries that I'm aware of where both parties are charged when completing a wireless call. Every other country I've been to, only the person originating the call is charged.

I've spent the 4 hours each of the last 2 nights on the phone with some Verizon Fios support person in India, trying to get a technical person on the phone. I can't browse to Bank of America through Verizon Fios, but if I tether to my AT&T phone, it works fine.

(response to harpa) They were suggestive, which is another way of saying the images in question provoked a physical response upon the male mod who actioned it.

(response to karee) I am going to miss my Cablevision service when it's gone.

I do want to say the 4 years I have had Fios, it has worked great up until now. Just don't move. It took me 4 months and probably 100 hours on the phone with Verizon trying to get them to stop triple billing me. I'm still not 100 percent sure it's resolved. I'll find out next bill.

Yes, this is exactly right. Once they get them to Fios, they have a monopoly and are not required to share the line and can charge what they like because it is not regulated like a public utility.

The law is lagging behind on fiber and cable and therefore the companies are jumping on it.

DSL can go much faster than it does, they keep it down because they want to make it seem bad so people switch.

I think copper wire is great. Imagine that a technology invented decades before the internet was able to hold the internet. All Bell lab awesome stuff.
