You should be able to make an appointment with the Civil Surgeon who will complete the I-693A (Vaccination Supplement) form and have him/her administer the missing vaccinations at the same time. Call around to find the one who will give you the best price. You don't need to have the full medical repeated in spite of what the doctor's office may tell you. Keep calling until you find one who will do what you want - give the missing vaccinations and fill out the I-693A form only.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Vent on:

Getting vaccinations in the US as an adult are a pain in the #######....most of the friggin docs want to charge you an arm and a leg for these shots, or try to push you into getting another full medical, the ones that will only do the vaccs. want to then turn around and charge a bundle to fill out the I-693A. Gosh, I wish we would have settled all of this in Jamaica... We had to call lists of Civil Surgeons in two states trying to find some sorf of reasonableness :(... Vent off

What do you need to get the necessary vaccinations in the US? it was too hard to get some in Poland, so now we need to get them here. Is this going to be a problem? if not, where do you go?

There seems to be quite a few complaints about civil surgeons and vaccination supplements on VJ.

A couple suggestions:

If you need to get vaccinations in the U.S. check if your health insurance will pay for vaccinations and/or Varicella test. Ours does and we saved $190 that the civil surgeon would have charged us for 2 shots and the Varicella test. We went through our physician and got the results to the civil surgeon. It was a little extra work, but saved a lot of money.

Make sure that when you contact a civil surgeon regarding the vaccination supplement that you are very clear that you only need the supplement completed and not a full medical exam. The civil surgeons office tried to do a medical exam and charge us a lot of money and we had to explain to them repeatedly that only the vaccination supplement was needed, as the medical exam was done in her home country.

I had to take two shots when I came 'cus my series weren't completed. First I had to take the last dose of tetanus shot and I just went to a pediatric vaccine place and they charged me 10 bucks for that. Then I had to take my final hepatitis B dose and just went to a private clinic that did vaccines and they charged 70 bucks for that one. The USCIS civil surgeon charged me 20 bucks for the supplemental sheet but he gave me an old form, not the I-693A, so I'll wait to see if USCIS will have a problem with that (the two forms are EXACTLY the same except for the number of the form).
