This has probably already been mentioned, but I find it interesting that on the official government websites of the processing centers, all of them (Nebraska, California, Vermont...and, er, the other..) claim to take 5 months to process the i-130. Obviously this can't be right since we have plenty of proof that Nebraska takes longer while some of the other are quite quick - I've heard of people who get assigned to Vermont getting their NOA2 in less than 3 months.

Are they trying to even the load between the different processing centers now, reducing the wait in Nebraska and increasing it in Vermont, or is this just a meaningless metric on their part?

I have a friend married to an Algerian who was assigned to Vermont. She got her NOA 2 in two months.

There's really no rhyme or reason to it.

All I know is we're still waiting

Nebraska is the worst, it's like a prison sentence.

Call them as soon as the 5 months are over.

You are looking at AVERAGES of those service centers and not the MEDIAN time. Don't anticipate that the 5mo will include holidays, snow days, govt shutdowns, etc. I can't believe it takes them 5 months to run a background check...that's all USCIS does to our petitions. You would think an agency that depends on aggregate data would have internal access instead of sending batch requests to the FBI. :bonk:

Any approvals for the month of September?

Yes. I have seen someone with a NOA2 date of 9/2/14 from Nebraska approved recently. You can check this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/512564-i-130-september-2014-filers/
