My case was transferred. Just got an update. April 25 PD. Im so upset. I thought I would get an approval going into month 5. This is beyond upsetting to me. The new office could treat it like a new case. the hell is this

Actually this could be a good thing for you. There have been several April filers who got transferred and already approved. My PD is April 13th and haven't heard anything yet.

man texas was approving them in a couple of months. why do h1bs get their families here faster than American citizens?

Remember that the Texas timelines here include the DCF people - not like for like.

There is a very simple reason that H1Bs and K-1s are faster than us....ours is a superior visa. Permanent residency from the minute our feet touch the ground at the airport. Work and travel rights immediately. Citizenship in 3 years. They don't hand that out like cake at a birthday party.

Even though other visa types are quicker, I wouldn't change my CR-1 for anything. No way would I be happy not being able to work or travel for months. I work for an airline! Travel is my life. And I love my job. Also, I want to arrive in country and be recognised as my husband's wife forever. Not a temporary worker. Not a girlfriend who might be a wife in 90 days.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

JHF it is great that you mentioned this, because when you think about it logically, it makes perfect sense. I can't complain at all about the time. I too am happy to be an IR-1 but I am hoping that my petition for my hubby gets approved soon. :P Good luck to you in your journey. :)

I would think that when a case is transferred to a new Service Center, the ORIGINAL priority date remains attached to the case. Does anyone know if this is, in fact, true?

It stays the same. But most petitions that have been transferred lately have been getting quicker approvals once they've transferred. Nothing changes with your original PD.

That's great! At least I know our case is getting some attention :)

Nooo! Don't be upset. This is a good thing! Especially if it goes to Texas. Our case (pd 4/22) got an RFE one week after getting transferred to Texas. At least it's been looked at.
