So, we have just received our case#, and understood, we will have a year from date case# issued to complete the NVC requirements prior consulate stage. I am in no hurry, after all, the lease at the current place he is living is almost up end of October, and we have yet to find a place for new address; he is hoping to get on base housing, but it all depends on availability, else, we will have to find a place that we both like. Since, i am coming out to visit my husband in November, can we take action of needful required, and make the payment/submission then? Or do we have to do it immediately?

Hi everyone!

I noticed that some of you mentioned "batches" with their cases. How do you have this kind of information? My NOA1 is from March 29. The website just says that my case has been received and there hasn't been any updates this whole time. Does that mean something is wrong? Please let me know, I'm starting to freak out!!! Thank you!

You don't have to worry; you'll hear something soon! There was no email/text either when we got the NOA2 - only on mailing address sometime June 7, and concurrently, the app update reflects status as sent to NVC for processing, which, we recently just got the welcome letter to proceed further actions from our end. Your NOA2 is prolly around the corner! :)

Thanks for a quick reply. So it looks like for you it was around 4 months between NOA1 and NOA2, right?

I'm just worried because it seems like some people are able to track what is happening to their cases during the long wait. Wanted to make sure that mine is fine :)

Yeah thats true! About 4 months, or so. I suggest you download the USCIS app - that way, you'd be able to follow close from time to time. You'll be fine. No worries!! :)

March 29? You could have a month or more to wait, I'm sorry to say. We are February 8 and still no further in this process than we were on the morning of February 9 except more frustrated. You can use the app to see what is happening with cases close to yours but you won't hear anything until it's approved. USCIS don't give updates through the process. We just have to wait and wait and wait....

To give you an idea of the workload and timeframe.... There are almost 190 cases that were received on February 8 that are still untouched. Hundreds have been approved from that date. They get several hundred every day. Plus Nebraska also handles other visa types too.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

JFH, how do you know (where did you get the info) that tells you there are 190 cases AND that those cases are untouched.

Thanks -

I use the iPhone app.

My receipt number is LIN1690420xxx and we were received on February 8. So I checked numbers around that to find when February 8 started and ended. I found that receipt numbers from LIN1690415000 to LIN1690420499 were all received February 8. I check to see how many are still showing "case was received" and have had no action since February 8. Currently there are almost 190 such files.

Got it. I had the app but hadn't seen the second tab where it is possible to do what you describe. Thanks!

Yes, it appears they have slowed down. We are February 8 and there are still over 180 files from that date untouched (including ours). However, some files are being approved in 4 months or less to keep the average within the 5 months.
