ahhh, finally find a thread that makes me feel like i am in touch with what is happening! it's been stressful!

2 questions:

1) i posted this in the CR-1 thread, but the Nebraska office sent me my NOA1 without my apartment number included on the address. their mistake, as my i-130 is written correctly (with my apt # in the "apt # space). when i rang USCIS the past couple days (spoke to 4 people!), they all said it was a typo on the part of NSC. but...nobody can change the address for me since i'm applying from taiwan. i'm a bit worried that if and when the NOA2 comes, the mailman may not be as nice and stick it in the bulletin board window of our mailbox room - he may just return to sender!. so i'm thinking it's better that i correct the address, but cannot do so online nor over the phone b/c i'm applying from overseas. any advice on how to go about this would be appreciated!

2) my NOA1 has a priority date (i assume this is what everyone is referring to as PD?) of march 29th, but then a notice date of march 31st. what's the difference? and which one do i go by?

it's exciting reading that people from february are starting to get NOA2's...i'm guessing i will have to wait another 2 months?

thanks everyone. :)

Welcome to the forum,

The first question..... You're going to have to write a informal letter to Nebraska to do the address change. I had to do one for husband in Jamaica.

The second question...... USCIS goes by the received date of the petition. The priority date used for availability purposes only in the NVC stage. It's pretty much irrelevant right now at the moment. The Notice Of Action date is your NOA1 date. I really hope this makes sense and helps you a lil.

Hi, your timeline says 29th March for your NOA1, what was the actual notice of action date on your i797? This will be your NOA1 date. I'm following your timeline now as I'm 24th March ?

Yes, the NOA1 was in fact dated March 25-- I put the 29th date while I was away from my documents, and was trying my best to recall what it said, as I was away from the mail for a significant period when it came in... I will update my timeline accordingly. :)

To put it in perspective for you, I did a search of receipt numbers around mine and when I got to 290 "received" on the same date I stopped counting. Don't get discouraged they just probably can't get through all for the same date on the same day, and I doubt all of the same date are sitting on the same persons desk.

The for others around your time are getting approved is a good sign though and should be viewed as a positive not a negative ... Even if purely for the fact that it will help you keep your sanity haha. They're ahead of projected times right now so that's a good thing.

Got married: 26th Sep 2013
