Hi

We will soon be sending off my K1 visa application and im a little confused over the type of photo needed.

Im from the UK but my fiancee is from the USA.

When sending a passport photo for the K1 application does it need to be UK size or US size? I know you can get US visa sized photos which are bigger than the standard UK ones.

I also wondered what i would need for both the medical and the police check?

Thanks.

All photos for every stage of the process need to be US size, which is 2 in by 2 in (51 x 51 mm)

Follow these requirements for an acceptable photo: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/photos/photos.html

If your interview is within 6 months of the photo being taken, then you can use the same set for the interview.

I don't see in the I-129F instructions where it specifies a size. It says passport "style" taken within last 30 days, glossy, name on back. ... No mention of size.

UK police certificate -UK size

UK medical- UK or US size. They said the smaller UK one fits the form better but they are happy with either

London interview- US size. Only 1 needed now. Says taken within 6 months.

AOS- US size (2)

EAD- US size (2)

AP- US size (2)

Interesting. One would assume that since its a US petition that they are referring to US size photos. You are right there is no mention of size, just that the "style" should be similar to that of a passport photo.

It also states that the photo must be taken within 30 days, I think other phases of the process it is 6 months. However, if your appearance hasn't changed much, then you can use older passport photos without a problem.

For the initial petition I had the Canadian sized passport photos and it was fine. I didn't even realize they were different sizes until someone asked a similar question a while back. However, if I were you I would do all photos the US passport size just to be safe.
