Arabic Notary Public??

Does anyone know here know how I can find a notary public who speaks arabic/english in the DC, MD, Nothern VA area? I need to get my husbands birth certificate notarized before our interview.

A notary just shows that the signature on the document is who they say they are. How would that help? They do not testify that the document is true and correct.

In short, it does not need to be notarized.

My interview letter states my husbands birth certificate translation need to be "notarized" by someone who speaks both Arabic and English in order to validate the accuracy of the translation.

Well, I just looked at it again. It says "certified". Anyway I need to someone to certify this document for us.

That means that the translation needs to be certified by someone who says they are fluent in both languages.

This can be done online (you scan the page to them and they can mail you back the translation), though there is probably someone in your area. I would search for "Arabic certified translation" or something. Translation of a birth certificate is around $25 a page.

Many people do it themselves, as well. Your husband can make the translation, if his English is adequate, and then certify the translation himself (by adding a statement, "I certify this translation is true and correct, etc etc".

Thanks! I thought we needed an official stamp by someone. He speaks both languages so I'll let him do it.

You can also try any local colleges that have arabic language courses. The teacher could translate your item with his/her background degrees as certification. Your husband should do just fine.
