Actually, the real difference is that you have no experience in this particular area....whereas I do. Most American citizens have no idea about the level of visa fraud that is going on in the real world (that's the one in which people actually do lie, not the fantasy world you live in). While much of it is not truly threatening to our security, there is certainly enough of it that impacts our economic way of life, and the way it affects the credibility of our laws. Of course, most people don't seem to care...until their job is at risk, or their taxes rise to cover the costs of benefits being given to those who have (and are) scammed our system.....I have little patience for these types....they all seem to want a free ride in some way, and act outraged if they don't get it....

the kind of possible scam mentioned in this post is quite common...the last minute announcement of somebody (or group of somebodies) who have miraculously won some trip to the US, often for reasons that make no sense...and just about every time, the trip is only a week or two away, so that time is supposedly of the essence, with the hope that the phony urgency will cause a sleepy CO to make a mistake....sure, this whole thing might be legit, but thus far we have read few details of the events surrounding this so-called 'contest.'....and as I said, a thorough VO will look at this case under a microscope....that it, in the real world.

I may not have as much as experience as you, but you could certainly humble yourself instead of bashing people who ask questions. Are there scammers attempting to enter the US? Sure of course. Just because you have little patience for the small amount of people that of course are going to do the wrong thing, doesn't make everyone attempting to enter the US one of those scammers. It's not what you say most of the time, it's how you say it and the fact that your opinions scream everyone attempting to come to the US is up to no good.

my experience tells me when something likely stinks...and the number of people are who scamming our system is not measured by a dozen or so, but by the hundreds of thousands annually....not 3, not 11, not 143, but hundreds of thousands....(except in Utopia, where you apparently reside, where everyone tells the truth....where exactly is that place on this planet??)...I never accused the OP of committing scam, but, notice when I pressed for even a few details, silence reigned.

there are people who post 'questions' on this site, often looking for ways to evade our laws....it is blatantly apparent to somebody who has seen this before...you just choose to believe everyone (thankfully, you don't regulate our borders)....all you have to do is look around your own community and you will soon spot the ones getting all sorts of benefits they do not merit, because they are not in this country legally (I don't recall seeing Utopia on the list of participating countries in the VWP)

There are some things that just do not pass the smell test, hang around and you will see.

You mean because I am direct, not because I am wrong. Once again, why is there so much silence from the OP when asked to provide even the slightest amount of verifiable details about this 'contest' allegedly won by some team of 'students?' If this were a bona fide contest, one that could easily be verified with a bit of investigation and internet probing, then why not say so?

As I said before, people who have not had any experience with visas, etc, really have no idea whatsoever (even Utopians) about the amount of major and minor visa fraud being perpetrated each and every business day....especially from certain countries....the amount of fraud and deceit originating from many countries is astonishing....and each illegal alien or visa abuser only does far more harm than good to our economy and culture, something I don't wish to see vanish just because some Utopians choose to believe everyone.....

Hello. I told myself not to come back but hey, I'm here.

It's unfortunate that until now, there's still no answer to my question. Haha. And why are you guys fighting? :(

Just an update on my part~

My visa application was a success! The officer who interviewed me was quite skeptical about it, but with the proper documents, he granted me a 10 year multiple entry visa. I received the passport with visa after 3 days.

I just got back from the US last week! It was a wonderful experience. The company I was talking about is no small company btw. They hold conferences yearly, and this year, there were more than 4,000 participants. I guess I was too scared before to share the details because what if you guys really called the company? :S

Not because there are many scammers out there doesn't mean everyone is. Have a great day everyone :)

The two faculty members got a single entry visa (probably because they are working?), while my teammates who are students got 10 year multiple entry visa. We all went to the US with representatives from the company as well as some of the company's clients.

Why do you still sound accusing tho :(
