TA (territorial army) military records for IR1/CR1 beneficiary

Does someone have recent experience with TA military records needed for the beneficiary of the IR1/CR1 process?

My wife was in the TA in the 2000's. I'm a USC currently sponsoring her for a IR1/CR1. For the NVC stage, we need to submit her "military records" (see: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/UK.html#docs )

When she resigned, she received a dated confirmation letter from the army personnel center in Glasgow. This letter states her name, rank, military ID number and discharge date. It says something about a notification appearing in a newspaper and thanks her for her service. It is hand signed by the Major in charge of these matters. Her enlistment date does not appear.

Is that going to cut it at the NVC and London embassy or do they need something more? Does anyone have any relevant recent experience with this?

I'm not sure if this will help but I had to take a copy of my TA records to my K1 interview in April last year. I never received a letter when I left so I had to write to glasgow for a complete copy of my records. I just took along the photocopy they sent me of my service record and it was accepted. The man I dealt with at the embassy said all they needed was something stating what I had done and my date of discharge and that I did not have any on going liability to the TA. Sorry if this doesn't help you much.

Dunno if they do it with the STABs (TA) but with the regular Army you used to get what is known as the Red Book when you leave. Does she have that? Or don't the reserves get them?

That would have all the information necessary, discharge dates, trade descriptions, medals, decorations and conduct.

Thanks. It sounds like the letter she has isn't going to cut it. She called the army personnel center yesterday. They asked her to email the form along with a scan of her passport page. Hopefully they can send what we need reasonably quickly.

Updating the thread in case someone searches for information on this topic in the future:

We received the "certificate of territorial army service" about 3 weeks after emailing the request. It's a massively underwhelming document containing only a 2 column table with an official looking stamp at the bottom. It is not signed:

Army Number

Name

DOB

NI Number

Rank

Date of Commission

Corps

Date of Retirement

It came with a signed letter which states the attached certificate is "for immigration purposes" and "should be sufficient for the relevant authority". Haha...

I guess that, along with the letter sent after resignation, will have to do!

I think all they want to know is that a person is discharged correctly and is not AWOL or a deserter and has no further liability. Therefore i would think what you have would suffice.
