I was approved for my FB-1 this morning in Montreal, the whole interview took about 4 minutes. Given the years I had to wait for this day I was surprised it was so quick.

Worse part was converting my petition from Adjustment of Status[inside US on visa] to Consular processing [outside US], that one step was supposed to take 2 weeks , and it wound up taking 9 months before I could pay my fees and file the DS-260, etc. I was hoping the dates wouldn't regress while waiting.

Former: TN1, H1B, O1 worker

Currently: FB-1: I-551 approved in MTL 04/04/16. Issued 04/06/16.

Hello everyone,

I had my interview at the Paris US Embassy on April 27, 2016.

The interview went well and I was told my passport should be sent back to me within 10 days of above date.

However there was a brain fart on my part. I didn't register my interview date on the internet and on interview day the lady gave me the info to do it (which I did the next day).

It's may 11 as of this post and still no passport in my mail box. What could be holding my passport back?

@teelaw

were you slow with your filing process because you should have gotten your interview scheduled earlier as PD is currently on Mar 22 2009 for FB-1

i believe you live with the mother of those kids and refused to tie the knot because of your FB1.

US emabassy may decide to investigate to confirm if you are married or not

they go as far as visiting your residence with your picture asking questions (though i dont know if they may want to go that length given that FB-3 is there to still get you the greencard)

you dont want your neighbors who probably think you are a married to go say you are, since in Nigeria, having kids=married

i don't know if the embassy will rely on what neighbors think as against hard evidence like marriage certs or pictures if they should thread the investigative path.

I also have a close person who has a pregnant girlfriend but wont get married because of this.

I wish you best of luck, and please share your interview experience with us.

the questions are usually

are you married

who petitioned for you

date of birth of petitioner

how many siblings

etc.

very simple questions just to fulfill all righteousness, bros, na expo i dash you so.
