Hi,

The affidavit of support fee, is a processing fee for your visa. You should have received two notices, one affidavit of support and the second Immigrate visa fee. If your asking how does this translate to solid date/time before your priority becomes current? It really doesn't help, it just means your visa is moving forward. Keeping track of the bulletin board and it's movement, that is the only solid way of knowing. However, we have records of many users getting their visa within a year to two after receiving their affidavit of support.

Hi all,

My PD is Nov 2008. I received affidavit of support fee invoice today from NVC.

Could someone explain what does that mean?

Does anyone within a similar PD receive a similar one?

Thanks

I just received one email only asking for 120$ for affidavit of support.

In the pdf sent, they are saying after paying fees and processing they will schedule an interview in the embassy back home. However, I am currently in the USA as a student and can not go back home because I did not do military service. Can I know change my status from student to resident?

If u guys are F1 and receiving welcome letter then it means that F1 gonna fly in upcoming months for sure!!

Generally, NVC sends this welcome letter or starts the consular processing 6-7 months before PD becomes current.

Right now, F1 is at 01 Oct 07 ... the way they are sending these welcome letters to the applicants with pd NOV 08 then its sure that ur cases will be current in next 6-7 months.

Enjoy this time with consular processing guys and fill out forms and pay the fees and submit the required documents at NVC asap.

NOTE: DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS TO NVC AT ANY COST. ALL YOU NEED TO SEND ONLY PHOTOCOPIES OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS THIS TIME DURING THE CONSULAR PROCESSING AND CARRY THE ORIGINAL ONES DURING THE INTERVIEW.

Puru,

I think you are giving people false hope. It was over a year almost two after receiving my AOS letter, for my priory date to become current. There a too many factors that drives the movement of the dates, but getting that letter mean your case is moving forward which very good.

Hi Longlivemania,

This is something you might want to speak with your immigrant lawyer. I too came on a student F1 visa, and we notified national visa center that the filing will be done at the local office. However, you must maintain a legal status in the USA. I wasn't able to maintain mine, I had to go back home before my visa expired.

Thank you cassanoa.

I think affidavit of support fee invoice is not a Welcome Letter. And it can be years before PD becomes current. As for the Welcome Letter it is quite different. Some documents are time sensitive (police certificate), thats why people usually get it @ 6-7 month before PD is current. I received my WL February 13 2015 (PD 09NOV2007). I paid AOS fees in 2012
