Shema,

Sorry for the delay response. I wasn't asked for the x-ray but on the website it said to have it on hand, so I kept it in my carry on all I had in hand was the packet they gave me and my passport. Entering the USA and getting your temp greencard is by far the easiest part, it takes about 6-7 years for get a visa and about 10 mins to get a green card.

After arriving at the airport, I entered the US citizen and US resident line which is all marked clearly. The officer performs his scan and document check, then asked me to follow him to the processing room, this wan't really a room just an open space at the back. The officer then took my finger prints, and ask me to sit down and wait. Ten mins later I was given back my passport with instructions about SS# and I was sent off.

Hey Cassanoa, congratulations on entering the US and reuniting with your family. I'm hoping on following you early September God willing.
Did you need the chest x rays at immigration?
Also can you tell us a bit about your experience going through immigration? It would help me in preparing for my own entrance!!! Thanks in advance!!!

How long could it take "in general" for someone under the F1 family category for his priority date to become current?

Shortest waiting time for F1 is at least 7 YEARS (all other countries). For F1 Philippines its 10 YEARS. Longest for Mexico which is 20 YEARS.

Oh god this is awful, so my son has to wait for at least 7 years unless a miracle happens, I heard such stories but I couldn't believe them. And I wanted him to come here and study... <_<

Hi Destiny,

Your son can still study in the USA, however he will be required to fill for an F1 visa and show that he has the finance needed to cover his first year. He must first be accepted to USA college.

You're right, but I wanted him to go, settle, work and apply for the federal studying loan like all the other kids in his age but I'm not sure if he can do all that with the F1 student visa, I might be able to find a solution for him though, as I also can't keep him in where he is right now forever either.

Yeah right, he won't be able to utilize the financial aid under FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the international student fees are very high. But, if you want him to join you then apply for his education visa first before applying for Immigrant visa, by doing that you will avoid problems in getting non-immigrant visa in later stage if you apply immigrant first.

Either, spend double on university fees under international student tag.

Or, wait for long 7-9 years which is actually more expensive in terms of money, emotions and pain.

Majority have survived the wait times as we're not talking about a child here but an ADULT. He can study in his home country, your US$$ I assume is worth more there. You can send him to the best university without incurring a loan.

Has anyone from the Philippines recieved their interview letter with priority date of Feb 2004? My Father's priority date is Feb 2004 and we still haven't received any letter.

Hhhmm, F1 Philippines current PD as of Aug 2014 Visa Bulletin is already 01 JUNE 2004 http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin/2014/visa-bulletin-for-august-2014.html

Is your father's case already CASE COMPLETE at NVC? You can call NVC directly http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc/nvc-contact-information.html

If you have an iOS/Android smartphone/tablet, you can use MAGICJACK app to call NVC for free over WIFI.

You're correct, I've been thinking about this, however his case is already on it's way to the NVC by now, where the long wait starts, so I don't know if I can do this. :(

Well, you're right, except that in his case he can't, if his country of birth was a stable one I wouldn't be worried because he IS adult, but even adults can be lost in such places right? That's why.

He can study elsewhere if his home country is unstable (if a US student visa is not an option) then just come back for the visa interview. Or he can even change consulates/embassy.

What do you mean by case complete? The last letter we recieved from NVC was back in 2009 when they said that our petition was approved but we have to wait for visa number to become available.
