Hi Rocksolid,

I have found this while surfing on net about this F1 to F2b conversion, please read it:

"Under Section 6 of the CSPA, the applicant can request exemption from the automatic conversion of the visa category from F2B to F1 by submitting to the Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (DHS/USCIS) a written statement that he elects to have such conversion revoked."

I think we need to read more about Section 6 of the CSPA to understand it better. Though, even legal advice also agrees with the fact that there is a provision which has been exercised by Phillipines' people at most bcoz they have seen F2b advancement over F1 since a very long time, but now the rest of the world is also affected with this problem.

Its like balancing the weight on two arms, both F1 and F2b have equal numbers i.e. 23,500 for an year. But, in previous months when every category were retrogressed badly for a very long period in year 2011, then people like us who were waiting in F2b were looking at F1 with that temptation to being current soon. Meanwhile, our petitioners got naturalized and we gt converted as an F1 successfully. But, the queue which we left gt shorter eventually and moves faster now and we have put more load on F1 alone, this was in fact equally shared by both categories before.

Here are some links regarding this, you may go through them:

http://asianjournalusa.com/immigration-retention-to-fb-p897-82.htm

Thank you very much for the info. Sadly, I think this only applies to those from the Philippines due to a 7 month gap between F2B and F1, but I will definitely look into it.

Hey Tenthwave,

Do u receive anything yet from NVC?? I mean any paper like Choice of Agent Form or DS forms?? I just wanna know that when they gonna open 2008 cases. More than half of 2007 applicants were approached by NVC before the Great Retrogression of 2011 took place. Do let us know if any progress takes place in your case, actually your pd is nearby mine thats why I am asking you.

Hi puru444 ,

I received almost 6 years of stress , lolol;)) kidding . No , nothing news. :(

Hey Guys,

I've been busy over the last couple of days, but I wanted to say that my Visa interview was on 1st July 2014 and everything went well. The only additional documentation I had to provide was my sponsor's 2013 taxes. The interviewer said every looks to be in-order and the visa was approved, it would take 4-5 days to process.

Hi all, my interview was also on Tuesday 1st July 2014. My visa was approved, and I thank the good Lord for that. The questions asked were basic ones along the lines of:

1. Who petitioned me

2. Our relationship

3. Where do both my parents live

4. What job do I do

5. Am I married?

6. Do i have any children

7. Do I have a boyfriend?

I was asked for my petitioner's 2013 taxes (which I had) and an updated police certificate (which I also had).

And that was it. I know how difficult and nerve wracking this entire process can be so my advice to all those still waiting is to be patient and enjoy life in the meantime. Your turn will come and you will receive your visa. Hope to see some good movement soon!!!

To everyone waiting for IL, please hang in there. I know how nerve-racking this tedious wait can be, but, trust me, there's light at the end of the tunnel. This is just to let y'all know that i got my visa too! Praise God! My interview was on the 12th of July and everything went smoothly. The questions asked were the basic ones and all I tendered were my int'l passport, police cert. and two passport photos. God bless y'all!

Are the predictions on this website accurate and on what basis do they estimate the date.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/visa-bulletin-predictions-family-sponsored.php

No they are not accurate. They are just assumed dates which may or may not reached. The dates are being predicted based on previous information/movement

Wouldn't it be more accurate if they estimate the movement based on who got their IV letters this month e.g person X PD is 10 April 2007, person Y PD is 18 April 2007, Person X received an IV letter but person Y didn't. Hence, this months movement will be to 15th April 2007. Of course the more data is available, the better the prediction.
