During these times of delays...my thoughts would be to attend the interview at the scheduled date. After Visa is approved, you have 6 months from the date of visa issuance to travel to US...You can decide based on this..

Good Luck

After the interview if you get issued your visa, and you wont travel with your relatives yet for the next 3 months.... is it possible for you to travel as a tourist?and then come back and go with your family altogether ?

After you get the imigration visa ..ur tourist visa will be cancelled...though Principle applicant can travel alone and then later on dependent...

The only rule is ...Principle applicant must enter first ....Dependent can NOT enter before Principle applicant

("Dont take this as legal advice"........)

It is the otherway round...the Holidays were missing me... :P .....Take Pink thoughts as a common sense advice than a legal advice... ...Focus on the Petitioner details during Interview and carry as much photographs taken with the Petitioner.....Good Luck

You mean if v log on to NVC Online portal and if it shows IV application Incomplete than it means we have to fill the form ?

Yes..

Good Luck

This is what it says:

When You Have Your Immigrant Visa - What You Should Know

If you are issued an immigrant visa, the consular officer will give you your passport containing the immigrant visa and a sealed packet containing the documents which you provided. It is important that you do not open the sealed packet. Only the U.S. immigration official should open this packet when you enter the United States. You are required to enter the United States before the expiration date printed on your visa. When traveling, the primary (or principal) applicant must enter the United States before or at the same time as family members holding visas.

But not sure how it exactly works.... I wonder if somebody has experienced this...Thanks!

I checked the Following to Join Benefits...but it may not be applicable as u have already reached the Interview stage for all the derivative applicants...The best option is, the principal applicant after getting Visa Issued can travel as soon as possible and the derivative applicants can leave after 5 months from the date the visa issued..Good Luck

Following-to-Join Benefits

This section is for beneficiaries who became permanent residents through a preference classification.

If you had children who did not obtain permanent residence at the same time you did, they may be eligible for follow-to-join benefits. This means that you do not have to submit a separate Form I-130 for your children. In addition, your children will not have to wait any extra time for a visa number to become available. In this case, you may simply notify a U.S. consulate that you are a permanent resident so that your children can apply for an immigrant visa.

Your children may be eligible for following-to-join benefits if:

  • The relationship existed at the time you became a permanent resident and still exists, AND
  • You received an immigrant visa or adjusted status in a preference category.

If your family member (child) falls into this category and you adjusted to permanent residency in the United States, you may submit the following:

If you are in the United States and have not yet filed to adjust your status to permanent resident, you can file Form I-824 for your child overseas with your Form I-485. When concurrently filing Form I-824, it does not require any supporting documentation.

If you received the immigrant visa overseas, you may contact the National Visa Center (NVC) for follow-to-join information. Direct such inquiry by sending an e-mail to NVCInquiry@state.gov or by writing to the National Visa Center, ATTN: WC, 32 Rochester Ave., Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909.
