if the visa officer feels that background check is required for a particular person, then he may keep that person's case into administrative processing...there are many reasons for administrative processing...........and sometimes it takes a week, a month or a year also.......depends on the individual's case..........

if they have returned ur passport giving u a letter of administrative processing and then kept ur case into administrative processing, then it will take months to clear that process.......may be 2-3 months...may be 6 months...may be 1 year sometimes.....

but if they have taken ur passport for visa issuance, and then kept ur case into administrative processing without giving u any letter during interview, then it will take few days to clear the process...then don't worry, ur visa will be issued within 15-20 days...............just keep patience........

Hi one of my family member got email after interview that he require additional administrative processing and it will delay the visa issuing process. Can any one say that what is additional administrative processing !!

During the interview the CO gave him a questionerry to give the feedback by email regarding his travel history, daughter and son's name, last ten years employer details and if any previous passport. He had replied all these via email. However after getting all information US embassy today send a email that it will take additional administrative processing to issue the visa and they can't predict the visa issuance timeline. I'm got the Email to wait for the interview schedule NOV10-2014, I wonder if I could travel to the US for 1 week for some vacations as a tourist or it could be a problem for the interview later?
