  1. 1. If you were Emperor of the World, would you allow convenience store owners to put up a "No Homosexuals" or "No Adulterers" sign on their door?

    • Sure. Homosexuals and adulterers can shop elsewhere. That's competition. That's the free market. That's the American way. Murka!
    • No. Absolutely not. They should not be allowed to discriminate against homosexuals or adulterers just like they can't discriminate against black people or Jews.
  2. 2. Followup to Q1 - What if the homosexual and/or adulterer in question was engaging in open displays of immoral behavior?

    • That does not change my answer to the question.
    • That does change my answer to the question. I will explain below.

How do you identify sinful people? But more importantly, are you yourself free of sin?

Conceptually - pun intended - pregnant women should be refused service, if this law passes. Is it not true that they are carrying the evidence of original sin in their wombs? More to the point, no catholic hospital should admit them, for they are sinners...

A pregnant woman can reasonably be expected to provide evidence that her [pregnancy was not conceived in sin.

Au contraire... According to christianity, all individuals are born with sin, for they are product of the original sin - hence the reason parents rush to baptize their offspring, and deliver their little souls from eternal damnation, should they die unexpectedly.

But this bill, and this is the real tragedy, does not limit itself to Christianity.

Of course it does. We all know christianity is the original, one and only religion or Murkha! We just put up with the other religions cuz we's christians and a loving people.

Deep down we all know god and Jesus are white.

It's not complicated. Any person has freedoms as long as those freedoms do not infringe on another person's rights.

Stop infringing on my rights.

The rights of the majority to have a moral nation supercede the rights of a minority to indulge in adolescent displays of sexuality.

That image is not family friendly. Report yourself.

How about a hospital that does not take blacks or Asians? How about a pharmacy that reserves the right to serve only Jehovah's witnesses? What is all gas stations in one state decided not to sell fuel to blacks? Where does one draw the line?

Well that is the question I have no answer to. That is why I said it is a sticky slope.

On one hand, in a truly free country a person should be able to trade with whomever he sees fit.( ideally speaking)

However you are right in all of your arguments. Those things cannot be tolerated in a society either.

I don't know where those lines are or how you can define them

However we do see them. We have a very prominent local school run by Catholics that gives priority admission to Catholics. That seems logical enough, but under a broad umbrella that is discrimination.

The Congressional Black caucus excludes membership to Non-blacks

Yes, so doesn't it make more sense to guarantee the rights of the majority at the expense of the minority and not the other way around?

The principle of least damage.

Good example. I was in a burrito shop the other day. The guy in front of me had on a T-shirt that read " Jesus is not my F bomb savior"

I was offended by that , pretty strongly offended as a matter of fact. Not because of his obvious lack of belief in God,as I am not a religious person myself. What offend me was his total lack of respect for anybody and everything around him. Lot's of kids in that place, families etc. His shirt was not designed to express his belief but to anger those around him. If I was the owner of that Shop, I would have asked him to leave, or remove his shirt. I think I should be able to expect my patrons to bring their family in my shop without that. I should have the right to do that in my own place. A shirt that read, I believe in only one less God than you. Fine no problem.

Where is the line ?

Which religion bans commerce with sinners? Must be a very, very limited business model.

That Jesus fellow sure did not shun sinners

Heck i hang out with all of you..

Isn't it also bigotry to tell people of faith that they must be accepting of lifestyles they consider sinful?

What's interesting is when you look at businesses and companies over the years that have been owned or operated by people who consider themselves religious, often times have had to separate business morality from their own personal convictions. Marriott Hotels, for example, are owned and operated by a Mormon. You can find The Book of Mormon inside each room, yet they serve and sell alcoholic beverages. They know that it would be detrimental to their business if they didn't serve or sell alcoholic beverages.
