I have had a green card for almost 6 years now. Been separated for almost 2 years. In June 2012 my US husband told me he was really getting a job in another State (at that time I was stay at home wife) and made me put my stuff in storage from the rental house where we were living. After this I decided to take a trip to see my family abroad and when I returned he did not get a job and he moved to live with his family. I was never welcome to live with his family. I would have never been happy living with them. At my return to the States in that time I started to look for housing for myself and been living with roommates since then. Also started working doing freelancing projects to support myself. I kept contact with him by email, and visited him some times. His family made fun of the place where I was living because it did not look like the "white american suburb". He kept promising things of getting a job and moving out of his parents. Well it has been almost 2 years and I am tired of this situation. I am really wanting a divorce. I cannot keep wasting my time with someone who keep saying promises. The thing here is that I do not know where to start. I really want to apply to get US citizenship and I am more than ready to move on with my life and get a divorce. We do not really have anything to fight for because there is no properties or children. What should I start?

You have been a greencard holder for more than 5 years, so you can apply for citizenship based on that, rather than marriage. Applying for citizenship and divorce are not related in your case.
