So back on 01/31/2014 My husband left while I was at work.... On friday 02/21/2014 I received divorce papers in the mail. The papers states that neither oe of us is requesting support from one another... I am wondering if anyone knows if immigratio will come after me for support for him... he is currently being supported by his brother and sister....

Well if he is the beneficiary the I-864 is still in play and you are responsible if he tries for any means tested government aid.

I would have a consult with a lawyer to cover you though. Wouldn't want a surprise "she threw me out, she abandoned me" and now you have to support them.

I mean WOW not even a goodbye note that is just wrong. Sorry to hear.

I guess since you are not married for more than 3 years he is still in CR1, that means he does not even have a greed card, right? if you guys split up and you report this he can be deported, I don't think he will be allowed to stay in the US even if his family is supporting him...

Good luck!

At this point follow through with the divorce well aware of the responsibilities you accepted when you sponsored him. He can request removal of condition once the divorce is final. He will have I show he entered the marriage in good faith. If he is approved for permanent residency then hopefully he will become a citizen afte 5 years in country and that will dissolve your responsibity. I would not worry about it after the divorce he has to do everything on his own.

Good luck,

I spoke with USCIS, I was told that because he left and is with his sister who is his co sponsor then I could write a letter and send it to the service center out petition is handled byand his sister would be held responsible for him. he cant claim abondonment becuse he left me. I am still at the address our petition was filed with. this is the second time he left since nov 2013, the first time he also left while I was at work. I purchased an airline ticket for.him to.come.back. I sent him an email explaining how I felt about his leaving this way. I explained that you cant do this in marriage. its not fair to just leave without communicating with your spouse.. I explained to him that this is unexceptable and I cant live like this and I wanted a divorce. shortly there after Ibgot.the papers in the mail... he called to.see if I had received them... we spoke briefly he said he was sorry... I really dont care if he stays or goes back to morocco....
