Not really Avery, that's a false VAWA allegation, here there is no known VAWA allegations, though I'm taking your suggestions about the possibility of an annulment to heart and going to lengths to hear several opinions, so I'll update as that happens.

I more meant in the sense that they did a runner right after the AoS.

I was married only 6 months. do all the above and put a post in your paper stating not responsible for any of her actions or spending. Get a lawyer, I did and he saved me a lot of money. At the divorce hearing she asked for 50% of everything but got nothing.

You are still on the hook for I-864 since your ex already has the green card.

nope, my lawyer proved she was a scammer

her actions were all false and we proved it

know let the government deport her or pay for her

Better read the fine print of the affidavit of support again. Unless USCIS decides she's a scammer and deports her, you're on the hook. Proving something at a county civil court in an action against your former spouse holds no grounds on the federal level. The county civil court has no power to set aside the I-864. You'd have to do that in federal court.

we had so much proof, she just went home to Indonesia

Well thats a great thing! Did she ever get the green card in hand? If she hasn't turned it in, she could conceivably return with it.

I agree, there are lots of red flags to watch out for. In our case, we have talked for hours everyday from our first meeting until we have met in person. Then after 4 months I went to see her and stayed in the Philippines with her for 2 months. I am 44 years old and she is 27 years old. She has a bachelor degree in nursing and is very independent. She never ask me for money, will love to stay in the Philippines(which we will moves there once our future children are older and are off to collage, because the U.S. education system is much better than the Philippines and there are also much more opportunities in the U.S.) and does not care where she lives as log as we are together.

I have done a lot of research and got to know her and her family very well. You don't jump at the first woman you meet and when you meet the right one, still move cautiously. I asked tons of questions, and made it my point to get to know her entirely. When I was looking for a woman to start a relationship with, a beautiful face and a nice body was the last thing on my mind. I have a 3 year old son that I have full custody of, so I was looking for a woman that was going to contribute to the family financially, emotionally, and physically. I wanted a woman who was smart, educated, warm ,understanding, kind, funny, sweet and have lots and lots patients,.

Scammers are every where, its up to you to learn from the person you are dating and to ask questions, even if they don't like the questions you are asking. When I ask my fiancé does she care about moving to the U.S?., she said no!! I love my country, its a very beautiful country, but I love you more and I will go where ever you go. That was what I was looking for in a relationship, a secure woman and confident woman and a woman who will love me unconditionally, because that is the only way I know how to love. I found her and I am so deeply in love with her, because of who she is and what she stands for. Is she beautiful? yes she is, but not just on the outside, but inside as well. This whole process is difficult, you have to know who you are petitioning. You have to know who you are going to marry. In my case I have a child, so I was really strict, and she passed the test.

Not all people from the Philippines are scammers, but there are some out there, so please be careful and just like any relationship, or any woman or man around the world, learn who they are, ask lots of questions, visit them and see their family and friends, but remember its a two way street, treat them with respect, kindness, warmth, understanding, and lots and lots of love and you will find a wife, (in my opinion) that is like no other woman you have ever met in your life.

Good luck to you all, and I wish the best for you and that you will find a way out of this.

P.S. The Philippine people are very nice and warm and caring people, don't let a few bad apples destroy a very beautiful country, with very beautiful, kind, and sweet people living there. God Bless to all!!! And yes I am new to VJ!!! Hello all!!! lol!!
