I have applied for citizenship back in July 2013. Other than the receipt, I haven't received anything. After multiple calls to the Service Center and Infopass appointements I finally spoke to a 2nd level officer today and found out that I had an appointment for fingerprints on August 13, but I missed it so my case is on hold. The problem is I never received the letter. I need to request a new date by mail, so my first thought is that I will probably have to wait another few months for that! So frustrating. I'm thinking about trying to do a walk-in in Boston. I heard very often they will let you do a walk in after you missed the appointment, depending on how busy they are that day . I live relatively close so I can give it a shot without wasting the day. The problem is I don't even have the letter with the missed date, because I never received it in mail, so I have nothing to show them that I missed it. I only have a receipt. So not sure if they even want to talk to me and let me explain what happened. Anyone had any similar experience ?

I would wait for the letter. Like most government agencies, the USCIS is heavily reliant on the 'right' document, and not having it either delays processes or makes them impossible.

When I removed conditions, I only filed for myself, since my daughter can't prove an ongoing marital relationship with my husband! Although we paid 2 biometric fees, since she was potentially turning 14 before completion of the process, they didn't send her an appointment letter because she didn't have an application in her own right (her presence is entirely based on my status). The application center were very confused by this initially, until an experienced officer explained how this was. They didn't even want to stamp a 'received' stamp for her with her A number on it, since she wasn't named on the appointment letter.

I missed my biometrics because the appointment notice got lost in the mail after I moved to my new apartment. The notice come in the mail (forwarded by USPS) 3 weeks passed the actual appointment date. I went to the Application Support Center and they allowed me to do a late walk-in without trouble. This was at Houston-Sugar Land USCIS facility. I believe you can only do your biometrics with the letter in hand. If it doesn't come call USCIS. They said they allow walk-ins as long as they are not too busy.

I have walked-in at least twice at the local Service Center for biometrics in the past and had no issues with that. If I were you I would give it a shot, if it's not inconvenient for you to go by there. Bring your receipt letter and explain what happened. The worse that can happen is for them to say no.
