There is so much homophobia on this forum, it's truly sad. :(

Never enough hedonism tho.

Definitely enough whackjobs though, present company not excluded.

Hedonism is a good thing, no?

The purpose of life is to be happy (or so says the Dalai Lama.)

Hedonism adds to the enjoyment of life, and ultimately leads to the pursuit of happiness.

If being straight is the norm and it's scientifically proven that people are born gay. Wouldn't that make being gay a birth defect? Shouldn't we find a cure for it? What do you think? I'm not trying to be funny... I'm serious!!!

I'm not so sure it would be considered a 'defect' - Homosexuality doesn't adversely impact a person's ability to be successful or contribute effectively to society.

Homosexuality does not (in an ideal world) affect ones ability to succeed, however, it does indeed affect the laws, and specifically the "family unit" and who/whom is considered "family, and who/whom is considered "mommy, or daddy", or on and on........

"I have two mommies", is not something I want my kids to hear in school.....Nor do I want to subsidize gay couples that want to adopt....

How can one "contribute" with such handicaps?

No....absolutely no! Homosexuality; the acceptance and belief that it's simply a benign, no consequence behavior is extremely naive.

Homosexuality has very serious social consequences..........

To believe otherwise is nothing more that "liberal-speak"..........

What would the consequence be of you accepting that some people are gay?

Living proof of the pervasiveness of social ideologies...

Where is the proof that homosexuality damages anything? I read a great deal of unjustified fear in the above post - no reasoned explanation of exactly how homosexuality threatens social values. There are certainly serious social consequences of being gay in society - specifically dealing with the stigma of people's homophobia, and in some cases their own guilt (which is itself the result of pressure to conform - in other words social ideology).

I guess the nuts of this is - can you prove that children with gay parents are any less likely to succeed or more likely to develop psychological problems. You need a real, specific example for that BTW.

In any case - the issue is not gay 'social units', but the suggestion that homosexuality is a defect that should be genetically eradicated. That is eugenics.... The point being, that if you remove from history all of the homosexual people who would be considered 'defective' under that definition, you would be removing a large number of highly influential people (in many fields) who have contributed greatly to humanity.

I don't see anything wrong with a homosexual person having the *option* to utilize technology to "turn themselves straight" if it were available. I can't presume to know what every homosexual person wants.

We have so many other things worth working on. Tell me how to cure homosexuality when we've cured all the actual diseases in the world.

This obsessoin with homosexuality in this country is ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing wrong with gays or lesbians. Live and let live is my opinion. Are people's live that shallow that they have to interfere in other people's live and tell them that they are either good or bad people?

the "obsession" with homosexuality in this country has *not* come from the conservatives. have there always been people who choose to live a gay lifestyle? yes. but up until about 15 years ago...it wasn't really talked about. the 'gay rights' movement has chosen to be so IN YOUR FACE with their agenda, they have forced the issue on the table. Obsession? you betcha. it's hardly a coincidence that every television show and every movie made these days has the token gay character. the gay rights crowd and the liberal left are intent on assaulting us with their agenda until we all buy the 10% lie, and begin to feel guilty for not noticing how "disenfranchised" they were earlier on.

this group has even gone so far to equate their "struggle" with the civil rights movement of the 1960's. one can hardly equate the two.

do i believe that homosexuality is a sin? yes i do. but you know what? people are free to do whatever they want to do within their own homes. i only feel it is society's burden to step in when it comes to protection of the rights of innocent children, and when they set out to undermine the God-ordained institution of marriage.

call me a homophobe if you want. i'm certainly not afraid of homosexuals...in fact, i have several friends who are gay.

i do find it a bit humorous, though...when i think about it. for years, we've been hearing the arguement that says "i was born this way. no one would actually CHOOSE to be gay!" well, now that the scientists are looking for clues as to the cause of homosexuality and the cure...we're hearing how that is an infringement on their rights. if it's so terrible being gay, wouldn't they want to correct it if they could??

Oh, I see I'm still being quoted....Is that a good thing?

Anyone care to research the issue of redifining the "family" issue as it pertains to gays? Most people view the gay issue as a "victimless crime" and shrug their shoulders and walk away.....

A very liberal Hollywood has acclimarted, or at least wore us out, to the idea that gay lifestyles are "normal" and harmless......

Brokeback, anyone? Ellen anyone?

These are attempts by liberals to make normal something that most of us know, intuitively, to be very abnormal.......

BTW, homphobic is simply a sanitized label to attribute to those of us that are bigoted against gays...

.in fact, i have several friends who are gay.

I find this statement hard to believe. I can belive you know people who are gay and that you are capable of feeling no intolerance towards them. But if they are your friends, how can you accept for them anything less than equal treatment under the law. For the sae of your friends who are gay how can you not be outraged by intolerantly society treats homosexuals?
