We have so many other things worth working on. Tell me how to cure homosexuality when we've cured all the actual diseases in the world.

This obsessoin with homosexuality in this country is ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing wrong with gays or lesbians. Live and let live is my opinion. Are people's live that shallow that they have to interfere in other people's live and tell them that they are either good or bad people?

 well said, I completely agree! I also agree with Alex that this kind of research is ridiculous when there are so many *actual* illnesses still uncured. And anyway... who says that we *should* 'cure' homosexuality or that homosexuality is this objectively bad thing, like cancer or AIDS, that NEEDS to be gotten rid of because it's so dangerous and horrible? I don't understand what's so bad about gay people that so many people hate them.

Is man-on-man action REALLY that awful!!?? :P

Its about people not conforming to social ideologies (those ideologies being "informed" largely by religion) which puts the greatest pressure on homosexuals.

Despite all the laws and political correctness, homosexuality is still not considered acceptable - and the phrase "alternative lifestyle" is still a euphemism for "deviant lifestyle".

If being straight is the norm and it's scientifically proven that people are born gay. Wouldn't that make being gay a birth defect? Shouldn't we find a cure for it? What do you think? I'm not trying to be funny... I'm serious!!!

I'm not so sure it would be considered a 'defect' - Homosexuality doesn't adversely impact a person's ability to be successful or contribute effectively to society.

Homosexuality does not (in an ideal world) affect ones ability to succeed, however, it does indeed affect the laws, and specifically the "family unit" and who/whom is considered "family, and who/whom is considered "mommy, or daddy", or on and on........

"I have two mommies", is not something I want my kids to hear in school.....Nor do I want to subsidize gay couples that want to adopt....

How can one "contribute" with such handicaps?

No....absolutely no! Homosexuality; the acceptance and belief that it's simply a benign, no consequence behavior is extremely naive.

Homosexuality has very serious social consequences..........

To believe otherwise is nothing more that "liberal-speak"..........

Common sense.

Common sense is not so common.

Since when is common sense unnatural acts such as two women, or two men cohabiting?

The problems with liberals, mostly in this forum, is that they're quick to spend everyone else’s money. I suppose that most of you are young and don't have an income that would be seriously threatened by such notions as legitimizing the gay lifestyle.

The simple facts are this:

It is generally accepted in society that gay unions are "unnatural"

It is generally accepted in society that gay couples that adopt are are on the fringe and are not accepted as "legitimate" family

It is is generally known that the majority of Americans disapprove of gay lifestyles- period

It is generally accepted that most in society are sick and tired of being told how intolerant they are to gays in recent years that they have acquiesced; not protesting until entitlements are at issue.

It is generally known that the U.S. public does not approve of the gay lifestyle, nor do they approve of same sex couples adopting and proclaiming themselves a "family"....

It is generally known that the majority of Americans are "disturbed, and against" same sex "family" unions that purport to be equal to traditional family units......

Sorry to wake you up..........................................................

Interesting. According to the Pew forum, the general public are 56% in favor of civil unions for gays. Common sense tells me that more people than that have gay friends and neighbors that they like, even if they are uncomfortable with the ideas of unions. But I guess common sense isn't so common.

PS please explain to me the "cost" of making America accepting of homosexuality? What comes out of your pocket in that instance?

What does one need to explain? Every "family" unit declared in the U.S. shows on the tax rolls. Married couples get entitlements not afforded to "unmarrieds".....

Pew forum? I say pee-yew to the PEW forum.......

BTW, my late brother Vincent was gay. I recoil at the idea that he and his gay partner would have adopted a child.

What a fcuking nutcase the kid would have been..........

So you want them to be straight (you know, the regular Americans who get married), but you don't want them to ever get married becuase of the cost to you. From their TAX BREAKS. How can they be both? You are hilarious though.

I know kids who have been raised by two moms or dads, and they're healthy and happy. And, fyi, not gay. It's sad you had such a low opinion of your brother. I wouldn't air that kind of dirty laundry on a public forum if I were you, but ok.

I gather that you were complaining about what I said, kaydee. BTW, "Common sense" was my answer to Alex's question about how you justify your remarks - by employing common sense.

I'm not a liberal , but a proud conservative who was agreeing with you and defending your comments.
