I really think that we will be able to force their hands with mass-media. Its outrageous that we have to go through all of this just to be together with the ones we love.

And it's also outrageous that they don't communicate with filers... It's not our fault that they got stuck with 10.000 files and they cant handle them. If so, why not balance the situation between the two service centers, the way they did last year when California had problems, why not hire more people, or create temporary service centers... why the heck did they stopped processing i-129f forms at the Vermont service center?

There is no transparency, plus we have to work with rude staff, being treated like numbers with no rights... and that really hurts.

It makes you think...the freedom every American is so proud about, is not very real... not all the way through. No one wants to break a law, we just wanna do the right thing, love each other and start a family.

I do pray that CNN or Fox News will start questioning and harassing USCIS's management. People deserve to know how the system works in our case.

Yes, Cristina_Brad, mass media may be one way. The more people report this, the more of something can possibly done. So all of us TSC filers, let's contact CNN, NBC, FOX, etc.

We have nothing too lose I guess that I will write to CNN and give them actual figures, I think that NBC DFW would also like an e-mail, I shall type it up now :)

Okay, I just thought about this...it cost us what, $340 to file this petition. They get roughly 5000 petitions between the two service centers every month, right? Okay, so each month they're cashing in 1.7 million dollars in K-1 visa applications alone between the two service centers. Split between the two that's $850,000 each. JUST for the application...each month. And they can't hire more help? Seriously??? They're this backlogged when they're making that much money? Oooh, just the thought of that makes me angry. Hire 17 more employees at 50k a year...one month from a service center would pay for them...and that's probably a better salary than they make. I know the money goes to other things, but SERIOUSLY? They have the freaking money...we're paying out millions for this process. Okay...sorry...yeah. Contact CNN...news companies about this. I will...cuz I really don't want to be waiting until December for my NOA2 just because they can't hire more help. This is insane, and I feel for you guys. I just wanted to share...

I am the petitioner.

I agree. I think the optics are on our side like I said earlier...wronged and unfair Immigration system, unfair and inconsistent processing (this will be the rub), treating Americans like 'sxxt when we call in. Best would be Fox News and CNN though the latter doesnt have an ax to grind like Fox but right now I dont care.

Anyone have the information to email them both? One caveat is be careful with your name....IF USCIS knows its you contacting the media will there be 'lost files, denied petitions' out of retaliation?

I think a good start with mass media would be Julia Preston with the NY Times who wrote this article. She already seems to have a basic grasp of the problem and probably knows where to stir things up. After all, it was her exposure that pushed the I-130 processing.

Heh, it took me half an hour just to draft that post. Writing is not my strong suit. I am working on a letter to my congressman about my concerns though, so while I'm in the mood I may send her a copy and point her to this site.

Okay, just sent her an email! I think we all should. I did forget to point her to visajourney, if someone else wants to.

Yes!!!!
Everyone, please share all the contacts you got... and maybe data and facts so we can all present a strong case.

And also let's all share in all TSC forums our idea and maybe we can make a new subforum about this topic and make a request to pin it to the top..... because we are so many and only together we can do something.

File sent - May 1st
NOA1 - May 9th
Transferred - August 8th
NOA2 - September 11th

>>>> Does anyone know what date they are processing now?

I remember someone said they were processing Dec applications still

>>>>>have any January people been approved and sent an NOA2? I submitted Jan 31 and want to know how long I am looking at waiting.

since i dont trust the times they have posted as an accurate representation of the wait time

>>>>>I also cant decide if its a good idea to get a senator involved or if that will pull my case out of the line and make it slower to get done, any thoughts?

I think writing to local media and national media is a good idea, being separated from the person you love is universally relatable and

there are so many people who have to go through it, whether because of slow visa processing times or otherwise. I am going to submit

to the NYTimes, has anyone gotten any responses from TV networks or newspapers ?

:clock::clock::clock::clock::clock:

! lots of thoughts, questions !

If you click on that NY Times Article and click on the Julia Preston's name, a page comes up with her information with a link to a form to email her. That's what I used last night.

I have been unsuccessful trying to find other immigration-specific contacts in media so far. Her article seemed to be instrumental in creating a flurry of activity around the I-130s, which is why I thought she'd be the best contact.

If anyone has any more contacts we can email, please post them!

Great, thank you! I will contact her as well. The more people who do, the stronger our case can be.

It should not be that the I-129F takes longer to process than the I-130....that simply is ridiculous! By design, the K1 visa is SUPPOSED to be FAST. Please I-129F TSC filers, let's make it a point to tell everyone who will listen of this long delay.
