I'm so sorry. Definitely try to expedite after the security check. I know it's tough, but try to stay as positive as you can. This process, however unfair, is thankfully temporary. I'm keeping you in my prayers with others who haven't heard!

200 days today and security checks for 36 days!!

I would be fine, except my fiancé's grandfather has been very quickly deteriorating in hospital over the last few days. Not only have I been incredibly close with his grandparents the last couple of years, but he is the centre of the family and best man at our wedding. We're the first of the grandchildren to get married and I can't bear the thought that I might never get to see his grandfather again :-((( I got so upset last night as he keeps asking for me, but I can't be there! I really wish I could be there with my fiancé and his family right now, the family are falling apart and my fiancé is the one trying to hold them together, all on his own.

Sorry for the venting guys, it's been a sleepless night. USCIS, you are literally stabbing me in the heart.

Thanks for your kind words and prayers Nitsirk7562 :-) The support here is just amazing, everyone knows what it's like, i'm forever grateful. I'm remaining positive, more for the sake of my fiancé so he can keep his spirits up, but it's not looking great for his grandfather. I told him, Bob better be writing his best man speech!! I just hope he holds on for us to say our vows, something that means the world to him and the family.

Facing another challenge now ... my fiancee is flying to Singapore to obtain the clearance of criminal record. She lived there for a couple of years. The Sing govt stops issuing this to non-Sing citizen so she has to appeal to the police department in order to get this ... I'm crossing my fingers that they will accept our submission tomorrow !!

So to update the situation with my fiance's grandfather, he is being discharged from the hospital in a couple of days. We've been informed that in this case they are discharging in order for maximum comfort and we should treat every day as a blessing, it's only a matter of time. The stress if definitely taking it's toll on the both of us.

Fiancé spoke with his senator's assistant, she is going to try and expedite the case once out of security checks, she's also going to push for a timeline with USCIS. Who knows how successful that will be, but i'm holding out hope for the sake of my future grandfather in law!

Question for this, how does expediting work? I'm guessing we'll need a doctors note/hospital records of his condition, is there anything else we should be prepared to gather?

Hey guys, quick question.... our case got approved on July 29th, since then no update of case being sent to NVC. Does USCIS always update their website and inform us that our case was sent to NVC or sometimes no? Also, we called NVC last night and they said that they didnt recieve our case. USCIS cant give us any information.

Help........ i dont know what to do :(

So you can check your case status on the USCIS website - if you enter your SRC number it should tell you whether it has been sent off to NVC. I got a text notification from USCIS - but I'm hearing a lot of people don't. Check the USCIS website, you could always call too (although USCIS customer service is just going to read you what is on the website so I wouldn't bother). I got NOA2 on 7/25, our stuff went to NVC on 8/5

About 4 business days after I got the notification from USCIS that our stuff had been sent to NVC I started calling to get our embassy specific case number - I called about 4 nights in a row before I got anywhere, but I got our LND number! (London number!) I didn't get it until August 15th though. It took a while. Call after 10pm EST. And be prepared to sit on hold for 40-60 minutes.

Check on your country's specific embassy page on here - sometimes you can sort of scoot the process ahead once you get your embassy number (my honey went for his medical already and did the packet 3/4 stuff online - all that's left is to wait for the interview date and pay the fees!).

Go here: http://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria. I think you have to call USCIS to begin the process, 1 (800) 375-5283.

What do you mean by doing packet 3 and 4 stuff online? Just filling out the forms and sending them back? Is there anything you can do online before you receive packet 3 to speed up the process? My fiance has done the medical already, got his police cert and has all the other forms ready for the interview, so if there's anything else we can do we definitely will.

I am the petitioner.
