It stresses me out when I convert the prices to pesos and realize how expensive those things are here. I won't ever take my silver swan soy sauce, calamansi and siling labuyo for granted ever again.

Wait till you get fresh milk, great beef and better tasting vegetables....and grapes, then go without them for awhile. You will have so much better access to foods when you get here. The online food is really a pretty decent price, I don't remember the cost of these items at my local market in the Philippines but are they really that much more? We bought some Manila clams (farm raised in Canada) for 7$ a pound, the wife says they are 30p there, probably meaning a kilo. As far as the tuna goes I actually miss that, riding to the fishmarket in the late afternoon and getting a tuna for the BBQ, 160p a kilo for a whole or half fish. I saw ahi tuna in the store here but was 15$ a pound, skipped it.

Well I'm not sure because we live in such a small town in dry west texas and the only decent supermarket here is Walmart. I do love the strawberries though but they don't have fresh meat and seafood which sucks. The shrimp is cheap though lol. And hell yeah, Filipino items are so much more expensive in the US. Pandesal, chocnut and Lily's peanut butter are like 3-4x more expensive but I guess still cheaper than getting them mailed from the Philippines.

Oh ya...forgot you were going to be stuck in some one horse town, hehe. Walmart is a little hard to take, hope it is a super walmart at least. You can probably get some fresh beef outside of town, just shoot one and cut it up, ranchers love that kind of thing. Filipino peanut butter....uhh....you will got over that one

dried fish/sea foods can be expensive here, when i got here i bought a food dehydrator, just buy fresh fish or sea foods and dehydrate them like about 6 hours maybe.Works great for me :) You can buy them at walmart, kmart and sears for about $30 :) , dries up very well, you can dehydrate fruits, seasoned herbs and do ur own beef jerky. My husband was glad that i bought 1 so i dnt have to ask him to go to the asian store which is an hour drive from where we live, im happy and he is happy :)
