So I know there's a generic list of vaccines they'll be checking for at your medical, but I feel as though not all of them apply to every age bracket (i.e. some are not recommended to get as adults, from what I've heard). Does anyone happen to know/have a resource for which vaccines are/are not needed for each age bracket? I'm trying to get these all taken care of within the next month or so to also allow for boosters :) Thank you!

We just went through this with my fiance.

We finally found the lists on the panel physicians websites....

http://www.visadoctor.ca/usa has a easy to read list.

or

http://www.health1stmedical.ca

or

http://www.drcheema.ca/

Our challenge was documenting the early shots like MMR. So she ended up getting some blood drawn and had tests to prove immunity to these. Chicken Pox (Varicella) just will need a statement of when you had the chicken pox, if you weren't immunized.

Thank you so much! Exactly what I was looking for.

So I should only think about Tdp, MMR, Flu, and Varicella vaccines? Even if I've never had, e.g., Hib or Menjugate vaccines?

Edit: I guess I shouldn't get the Flu one now since this flu season is almost over anyway?

Yes those are the only vaccines you need to worry about. The rest are not age appropriate. You can get your blood tested for immunity as well and often if you do not have immunity, the vaccines will be free at the health clinic.

Just a word of caution about the tdap, make sure the printout from your doctor actually states tdap. Mine only stated "Pertussis" even though all three (tetanus, diptheria and pertussis were included in the vaccine) I had to go back to my family doctor to get proof that they used the right drug. Adersol I believe it was.

Usually in most of Canada you receive the vaccinations from a health clinic, not from a doctor.

That is true, many people do get vaccinated at a health clinic. I had to have a booster for the tdap so my doctor did it for me since I was in the office for somethting else at the time.. If you do it through the health clinic their printout does say tdap. I just want to make sure people check their documents. Just trying to be helpful..

No it's a good thing to point out if that is the case. :)

I had so much blood drawn to check for measles, mumps, rubella, hep b, hep a, (thought I should check on those), that I just went and got the tdap again. LOL Goodness it was like I was in the 17th century having blood let. LOL Good thing I"m not scared of needles!

So another question. The only vaccination records I have is a form from the Toronto District School Board describing the vaccinations I needed for elementary/middle school that was filled out and signed and stamped by my pediatrician from Iran + a vaccination booklet from Quebec (for the Tdap booster and varicella vaccines I'm getting now). My university accepted the TDSB form, but I'm worried it might not be enough for this process. Any suggestions?
