It's been 2 months since the Form I-797 and I haven't heard anything since. Am I being impatient? Or should I have received something by now? I'm working on my I-864 so I can have it ready whenever they need it. But I haven't heard anything yet.

Do you mean you were approved 2 months ago and you are waiting? If the answer is yes you need to be calling NVC to see if your petition is there I am sure it is.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It's taking about 8 months to just over a year for people to get the petition approval.

I just came to look back at this thread and reread your post. 8 months!!!?? It's only been 4 months since I got the I-797 now and I haven't heard anything. So you're saying it will take 4 more months to hear anything from them? Oh dear :cry:

Standalone I-130s are routinely taking 12 - 14 months for approval at the USCIS stage right now.

Agree, there is no rhyme or reason. I got approved exactly six months after my filing date, others have had to wait twice as long. There are people who filed in May/June last year still waiting, I believe. I think they are being held up due to security checks on the petitioner taking a long-### time to come back.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

 

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

 

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

I checked the "My Case Status" and it has moved from "acceptance" to "initial review."

I don't understand the processing times. It says 5.5 months for the Nebreska Service Center, which is where mine will be processed. Doesn't the application need to be given to NVC from the USCIS before the 5.5 months even starts?

No. You are confused. It goes to the NVC after it's approved, and then you have to submit (resubmit) a whole bunch of stuff.

My I130 collected dust for like 7 months at the NBC, and then it sat at the NSC for several more months. Total time for my I130 approval with no RFE or problems: 9 1/2 months. Since the beginning of Jan. I've been going through the NVC, and I'm still waiting on a case complete. After that it's probably a month or two until my husband's interview.

So, we're looking at probably 15-16 months from our submitting the I130 form (March 2013) until he has the visa in hand.
