Administrative Processing

Hi guys. Not sure where I could find this kind of answer, searched but couldn't find anything recent. I had my interview at the Montreal Consulate on February 14th 2014 and was approved. Been checking the CEAC site for my visa status and it recently changed to Administrative Processing. I have been reading a couple of posts about it and it kind of freaks me out knowing that the wait can be very long.

I was just wondering, is it normal for a case to be put under Administrative Processing for a K-1?

I believe it is normal for all visa to go thru at least a day or two of AP. Ours was in AP from Friday till Monday and then on Tuesday about midday it changed to issue.Also here is another good thread about the wait times after approval of the visa. Oh and before I forget congratulations!!!!! on the approval!!!!

I have my visa approve the 7 and up until this day i have not seeing 1 update , ap is normally 1-2days some people are lucky yet they find reason to complain

Honestly it varies from case to case. From what I've seen from my year creeping on this forum, some people are in ap for not long at all, others a bit longer, and still some go into some sort of ap purgatory.

It's one of those things we can't really control, don't stress it too much.

It seems over the years most Canadian applicants that went through AP were foreign nationals of countries who were not on the friendliest terms with the US. However, sometimes you just go through AP without any apparent reason. I was in AP for a couple days too. And there is nothing I can think of that could explain it. It has not impacted my K1 visa activation or my AOS. It's just, like pp said, a purgatory, because you never know how long it will take and frankly, you've already waited a long time by the time you go through AP. The wait is almost over. Good luck!
