Hi -

Our expedite request (medical reason) was approved on 4th Feb and files were sent on 6th Feb & received at embassy on 10th Feb. Our embassy is at New Delhi.

Since 10th Feb, we have been following up with embassy, both via email & phone, for interview date and upto now we have not heard anything.

My question could you please let me know what is the average time embassy takes to respond to scheduling interviews for approved expedite requests? We are running out of time and any help / guidance to accelerate the process is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

In your first post here, you wanted the expedite for a student visa at risk. Now it is a medical reason? What are you running out of time for exactly?

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

At first I wanted to know the risk of applying student visa when IV was under process. We have decided to drop this, since we have a medican emergency. Our case for expedite request was approved and now waiting for embassy to schedule interview.

Spoke to DoS and they asked me to conatact NVC. I spoke to NVC and the supervisor was very cooperative. She said that its pretty much with the embassy now & NVC can't provide any info. However, she was able to share that info (not sure if that is interview letter or just simple instructions) was sent out on 11th Feb (we haven't received this yet by email or post) and they have moved our case from New Delhi to Mumbai consulate.

Anyone know if the letter is sent via email or regular post or DHL?

If anyone has any specific example from embassy in India would be helpful.

Thanks for sharing info.

Generally it goes to beneficiary's email. Looks like DOS has stopped answering questions on VISA and routing it to NVC. If i were you i would contact ustraveldocs again and tell about the info you got from NVC. If they are sending it by post you don't want to lose that letter. Ask them if they have sent the letter and verify if they have the correct address.

10th Feb - files received at embassy

since then we have been waiting...

Can you please let me know on how I can request NVC for the expedite request? Are there any general guidelines on what requests are honored? Is making a request for expedite request going to delay the process? Any help is appreciated.

We have sent I-864 and IV forms in the 3rd week of Jan and 7th Feb. We got a checklist for I-864 to which we sent the response on 2/18. When I called NVC they mentioned they haven't opened our IV package or the response to I-864 and said they will take up to 30 business days to review them.

PrWaitingForWife - You need to send email to NVCExpedite@state.gov and provide details for why you want to expedite the case. Then NVC will share this with Consular General / embassy for approval or denial of expediate request.

Based what I have been able to read on the web, if your PD is current and you present a valid reason for expediate request then there is a good chance, but no gaurentee, that your case will be expediated by NVC.
