Question about online status

We've received the NOA1 for our I-130 and I-129 petitions. I created a login for us on the USCIS website and added our cases to our profile. I've seen other timelines that make mention of 'touches' and I'm not exactly sure what constitutes a touch. For instance, our I-129 has an NOA1 date of 12/18. We've been tracking the progress online and the 'Last Updated' date changed on 12/27, 12/29, and 12/31. Are those considered touches?

Our portfolio has not changed other than the Last Updated date. By that I mean if I click on the cases both have a status of "Current Status: Case received and pending." I know it's way too early for either case to get approval but will we see any change in status prior to the petition approval? Also, I have Email notification enabled but I didn't receive anything (not even in Junk/Bulk folders). Is that normal? This is what it says about updates at the bottom or our portfolio...

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message."

I can't edit my original post above this one but I (actually my wife) found the answer to the 'what constitutes a touch?' question in the K-1 section HERE. So apparently we have been touched.

I guess my only question is, should I receive Email on these touches? I haven't received anything from USCIS by Email yet. Only our NOA1 in postal mail.

The email system is inconsistent, so even if something important happens you might not get an email anyway. But emails are not sent out unless the actual status changes.

Hey Rob,

You're getting a bunch of touches on your I-129F because it's getting ready to be transferred. You should receive an email from "CRIS" (USCIS-SRMT@dhs.gov) when your I-129F is transferred from Missouri and also when it arrives at your service centre. They'll send you snail mail notices of that too (the transfer notice and the receipt notice).

Now you can join us all in obsessively checking our case status online!

Ah, I do check the status online but maybe I missed some status changes? I haven't seen or received anything on the transfers. Our I-130 went to the Texas SC and I didn't hear anything on it until the NOA1 from the California SC. Our I-129 went to Chicago of course but again I didn't hear anything until NOA1 and that was from the NBC in Missouri. The only thing I've received from USCIS is the NOA1 documents via snail mail. I added dhs.gov into my Yahoo mail filters to direct anything from there to my Inbox but I don't know how well Yahoo's filters work.

Yes, hopefully our I-129 will get transfered to the CSC so it can get processing.

I'm hoping you get the notice of transfer tomorrow or the next day. Sounds like they are getting it ready based on your recent touches.
