Hi there

Fistly, apologies if theis question has already been asked, I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

I have my K1 Visa interview coming up at the US Embassy in London. I want to know what the average time is that they keep hold of your Visa and when I am likely to get it back (if approved). I am due to go abroard for work shortly after and need to know if this will be an issue.

Can anyone help?

:)

Have you checked the timelines, for Germany its 2-3 days processing then posted out.. it tends to be 6-10 days, normally around 7-8, until you have the passport back in your hands. I feel postage is quicker in the UK so maybe a few days sooner.. but it looks similar.

Can';t comment on hold times.....but......what's this about going abroad to work? For the K-1 the assumption, and requirement, is that you permanently reside in the US. You can't receive a K-1 and expect to AOS if you don't intend to live in the US.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

I mean go abroard on a short business trip (from the UK to France) shortly after my K1 Visa interview in the London Embassy, hence why I need my passport. I won't be living in the USA yet.

OK, no problem. Maybe email the Embassy and have them hold it?........but you need the passport to travel?.......Email them and ask.

There is a UK forum where this is discussed often mixed in with chatty threads,

The embassy says this http://london.usembassy.gov/ and it is pretty accurate.

The London Guide in the UK forum gives some general info about after the interview http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/?p=6741253

And this thread in the UK forum is a group who already interviewed discussing their wait. Maybe you can follow their experiences and see how it's going for them. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/481245-ceac-status-case-created-date-changed/

When traveling inside the European Union, you don't need a passport. National ID card is sufficient.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...
