GreenCard reentry

Good Morning everyone,

I am a first time poster and would like to ask a question.

I have called the USCIS and the Embassy here in Germany, regarding my question. USCIS couldn't answer it and the Embassy doesn't seem to give out infos on the phone anymore and wants me to send an e-mail (which I have done) but waiting time can exceed 5 days (which is way too long for my taste tongue.png )

So here goes my question: I have been permanent resident of the US since 2008, got my 10 year resident card with removed conditions in 2010, in 2011 my husband got orders to go back to Germany on which I was on as well, now time has come for us to go back stateside (on orders), my question now is, is there anything I have to file or bring along, when we reenter the US other than my greencard and passport?

TIA

Nadja

Nope, with passport and valid 10 year green card you are good to enter the US.

Military personnel and their spouses are classed as being on US soil while stationed abroad on orders, so you won't need a reentry document, just bring a copy of hubby's orders to Germany and return orders to the US and you should be fine. :)

LPRs don't even need their passport to re-enter the US, only their green card.

Have copies of the military orders with you in case you get grilled in why you as an LPR have been out of the US for over 2 years.

You will probably not need them. But it's better to have them and not need them rather than need them and not have them.
