Anyone get a K3 through Vancouver?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has experience with a K3 from Vancouver.

Is that the only way to interview in Vancouver, as opposed to Montréal?

Also wondering if there is then a second interview, upon filing the AOS,

and where that would take place.

Hoping to avoid having to fly across country with our baby,

if I can.

Your advice and experience is appreciated.

Thanks!

Very very few people manage to obtain a K3, I think I have only seen one in the last year.

You might be lucky but you asking a LOT.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

K3 has sort of gone the way of the dodo bird! I think I only recall of one taking place all of last yr! In many instances the K3 doesn't make much sense as it costs more than the Cr-1, I guess the only advantage is that since you would go through Vancouver, it may be a bit faster, and it may not!!. And keep in mind, you have to be residing in Manitoba and west to be able to goto Van--one doesn't get to choose the consulate.

http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare comparing the 2, so you can see why the K3 is pretty much obsolete, costs more, yet you get less!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Well, the K3 would be less expensive for us, as we would save the airfare for my baby and I to fly to Montréal.

So, I would much rather pay the additional fees, and interview here. We live along the border, right outside of Vancouver.

We cross the border pretty much daily, and the border guards here say they see a lot K3s.

It was them that recommended we go that route, as we cross so regularly.

Well, we are going to the Embassy here soon, to get our child's passport.

Maybe they will at least let us know if there is any point in hoping for the K3.

Thanks for your input!

I can only comment on what we see here on the CDN forum. And the baby would not have to attend the interview, yes I realize you prob would want the baby there, but just stating the fact the baby isn't required to attend

That's correct. And baby is a US citizen, so not needed to be involved at all. But still, Mama would need to take her baby with her. :)

Asked the Immigration desk at the border today how often they are seeing K3s again this afternoon, and was told "all the time". Which is what other border guards have also said. So not sure what to think about that.

Guess we'll just apply and see what happens.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

For many the K3 makes no sense as it can take just as long as the CR-1, and then 1 is NOT able to work right away, more $$ as 1 has to AOS. With the CR-1, one can get Cdn Ei right away as well (if u qualify on it)
