Hola Hola.....simple question re: NOA1 for the new girl

Hola Hola (this is how my close friend at work greets me and it has stuck with me through the year)

I am new to the forum and have seen lost of great information so I am very happy to have come across this website.

My question is this: what does the the NOA1 (which i gather is the 1-797 form) tell you other than your receipt number? Does it provide any instructions or forms or other useful information that I would need. I ask because I haven't received my hard copy in the mail yet, and find it odd because my timeline is as follows so far:

1/30/14 - e-mail notification that petition accepted at TSC

2/3/14 - alien registration number changed

and currently still waiting for NOA1 in the mail. I have noticed on other timelines that individuals receive their hard copy NOA1 within 7-10 days, tomorrow will be 20 days for me and nada. Is there something in the mailed NOA1 that i need to know other than what was written in the email notification?

Hiyas! :)

I received the text notification about my NOA 1...2 days after I was notified that my case was received by USCIS. 3 days later, my hardcopy NOA1 was received through the mail (you can sign up for the text message service through USCIS, and you get a text alert every time something new happens with your case). The hardcopy basically told me the same thing the text message said. I could still search for my case, using the number they assigned through the text message. I hope this helped a little! Good luck!


If it's been 20 days since the e-mail notification, I would contact USCIS and see if maybe they have the right address. It shouldn't take that long, I don't think.

I think I am going to contact them tomorrow. I do find it weird it is taking this long, and heaven forbid they have the wrong address, could you imagine. YIKES!

I see you also recently joined, and filed in TSC. How recently did you file. How is your wait going?

The NOA 1 is nothing more than an official receipt by the USCIS that your petition has been received. Yes, there should be an alien # listed on the NOA 1. You have received an email stating that the TSC has received your petition. My gal's NOA 1 took over 30 days for me to receive it in the mail. You can call and see what they will tell you..., I don't believe that they will tel you much - just my opinion. Please be patient and stay up-to-date with your case progress and status online. This is really all you can do for now.
