Hi

I need to get my medical exam done and I only have my expired passport and student ID ( which I got when I was in school two years ago ) and I already found some civil surgeons who will accept my student ID as an ID.

But, on the form I 693, I found the part which says

To be completed by a civil surgeon, Form of applicant ID,

presented ( eg, passport or driver's license)

- ID number -

So if civil surgeon accepts my student, what is he gonna fill on this box ( since it is only valid passport and driver's license ) ? Will getting medical exam done with student ID will be acceptable by USCIS?

Thank you,

Why don't you get the passport renewed by your country's consulate here. It takes a couple of weeks to do it. You might or might not be able to use the expired passport for the applications but my best bet is to have it renewed.

Your going to need a current passport for your application regardless therefore renew it asap.

I overstayed my student visa. To renew my passport, I have to show that I am in school or at least I am currently in status which is why I could not renew my passport.

But once I get the EAD approval , I will try to get my passport renewed.

No, I don't think your country's consulate should have restrictions on when or why you can renew a passport. A passport is your right as a Citizen of that country. Just call the consulate and make enquiries. I'm sure they will give you guidelines on how to get the passport renewed.

I went through the website of my country's embassy in Washington, DC and it says I have to have the current visa or green card to have my passport renewed. Some of my friends who also came here with student visa even needs to have their school recommendation plus visa to have passport renewed. As for me,all I have is expired visa so I have neither of that proof.

That is incorrect. My passport was expired and I never had any problems when I went through AOS.

Thank you very much

May I know which ID did you use for medical exam done? What I willing to know more is what civil surgeon filled on the medical form that asks

Applicant ID ( eg, passport or driver's license)

I used my state ID. You could take your student ID and your expired passport and explain the situation. The doctor might accept them in combination.

Thanks a lot , Jerni. What about biometrics appointment ? Do you think I will be able to take expired passport for biometrics ?
