Timeline

Hi again all. I'm getting ready to file my I-129f and one thing still bothers me. A Timeline. Is it required? Is it needed? and is it even really helpful because I'd be the one typing something up and would they even consider that strong evidence? I've searched previous posts and still coming up with mix opinions on requirements and actual helpfulness of it.

I posted a previous question to have others review my kit and some people brought up having a Timeline. I checked both Vietnam's Embassy Information and Reviews and didn't see anything requiring a Timeline. Nor did I see anything additional needed by the embassy for the I-129f kit besides what was in the instructions.

If you have any input, please let me know. If you used one or if you didn't use one and then was one asked for? If you've dealt with Vietnam's embassy, that would even be greater help. Thanks!!

Strong evidence would be boarding passes and stamps from your passports (both you and your fiance) to show you've met in the last two years. Secondary evidence would consist of photos, emails, skype logs, cards, etc. A timeline would fall into secondary evidence, and is not really needed for your application (but couldn't hurt). I did not submit one with my K-1. There is a timeline on VJ, and it is suggested you fill that out, as it helps other users answer your questions better when they know where you are in the process.

Timeline

The timeline mentioned is a written description that can be titled "Evolution of Our Relationship" and it can serve to tie together the evidence that you submit.

Just because you email with a person, or visit them a lot or even sign a letter stating an intent to marry, none of that can prove that your have a legitimate relationship where the two intend to marry and live together and not commit visa fraud.

The letter is more for the interview but many Embassies / countries seem to like or even need some front loading of the petition and then maybe more for the interview.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

I did include the timeline for my relationship in package 129F and I did put the the statement that I will marry my fiancee within 90 days of her arrival . However, I only signed it without sworn or notary. There is no problem with USCIS at all.

My fiancee brought the same timeline as I submitted in package 129 F to her interview. Surprising, that they asked for it. However, they did not accept this timeline due to not having SWORN statement and NO NOTARY. Therefore, I have to include something like " I swear that the contents above of this documents are true and correct. I shall take the full legal responsibility under the law for any fraudulent information" and I notarized it.

For USCIS, You might not need to notarize, however You need to aware that they might ask you to do the same as me at her interview.
